Blaine County Jail Inmate Search
Blaine County Inmate Search: Locating Someone Booked in Watonga
Adults picked up by deputies or by town officers here are booked into the county jail at 220 N. Burford, Watonga, OK 73772. The Sheriff runs it. The answers below deal with the roster, custody alerts, visits, calls, mail, money, warrants, lawyers, transfers and each police agency in the county.
For a fast check, open the Sheriff's inmate search. It lists who is held today, with the date and hour each person was booked, a screen at a time. A brand-new booking, or someone freed this morning, may not line up with the list yet, so call to be sure.
Dial the jail at 580-623-9965. Confirm the person is there, then get the booked charges and any bail figure. For release steps see our bail and release page; for hearings, our court guide.
1. Using the Watonga jail roster, step by step
- Tap the Sheriff's inmate search link on a phone or laptop.
- Read down the names. Each appears twice, once surname first and once given name first, next to its booking date and time.
- Click through to the next screen if the list runs long. Results come a dozen or so names at a time.
- Note the spelling exactly as shown, and the booking time.
- Phone the jail at 580-623-9965 to learn charges, bail and the next hearing.
A brief "Recent Bookings" roll of names also sits on the Sheriff's home page. The Sheriff's main line, 580-623-5111, is staffed weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
↑ Back to the question list2. No match on the list? Common reasons
- Too new. Booking takes time, so a fresh arrest may lag behind.
- Already out. A quick bond or a release from court takes the name off.
- A city hold. Geary police keep a city jail line at 405-884-2167, at 129 NW 5th St, Geary, OK 73040.
- Another county. An arrest just over the line may mean a neighboring jail.
- Federal or ICE custody. Each of those agencies tracks its own prisoners.
- Spelling. Try a nickname, a maiden name or a second last name.
Still stuck? Phone the jail, 580-623-9965, or search the statewide VINELink custody tool.
↑ Back to the question list3. Which jails near Blaine County might be holding them?
The main lockup is the county jail, 220 N. Burford, Watonga, OK 73772, 580-623-9965. Its beds go to people waiting on trial, people sentenced to a year or less, and anyone the town police arrest.
When the arrest happened near a county line, check these neighbors too:
- Canadian County Jail, 304 N. Evans, El Reno, OK 73036, 405-422-3188
- Kingfisher County Jail, 1001 Victory Lane, Kingfisher, OK 73750, 405-375-2789
- Major County Jail, 500 East Broadway, Fairview, OK 73737, 580-227-4471
- Dewey County Jail, 104 West Ruble, Taloga, OK 73667, 580-328-5558
- Custer County Jail, 300 North 7th Ave., Arapaho, OK 73620, 580-323-1616
- Caddo County Jail, 201 West Oklahoma Avenue, Anadarko, OK 73005, 405-247-6666
4. Are Blaine County booking photos online?
On the Sheriff's roster, each entry is a name plus the booking date and time. Wondering about a mugshot? The Sheriff's Office takes that question at 580-623-5111.
When an Oklahoma agency keeps them, records such as the arrested person's description, the reason for arrest and the jail register are open to the public (51 O.S. § 24A.8). That list does not mention booking photos, so ask the Sheriff's Office how it handles a photo request.
- News outlets and members of the public can file a records request with the Sheriff.
- An ICE photo can be asked for through ICE's FOIA records request page.
- Federal booking photos usually stay sealed. When deputy marshals are chasing a fugitive, their agency may post one.
5. Release and transfer alerts through Oklahoma VINE
Oklahoma VINE follows where someone is held and sends word when that changes. The Sheriff's search page sends families there.
- Use VINELink to look someone up or register, or dial 877-654-8463, which is free.
- Notices arrive by call, text, email or app.
- It reports moves, escapes, recaptures, releases and deaths. Parole is outside it.
- State prison assigns a different ID number, so re-register once the person transfers.
The Attorney General's office runs the system. Its VINE help line is 405-521-3921.
↑ Back to the question list6. Getting out on bail from the Watonga jail
A District Court judge sets bail, and the state constitution makes nearly every charge bailable (Okla. Const. art. II § 8). Release can come on a signature, on cash, through a bondsman or by pledging property. Bail may be refused only on a narrow list: capital, violent, life-sentence, repeat-felony and serious drug charges.
Two 2025 changes apply. A second or later DUI now needs a judge to set bail (HB 1222). And a hold from a different Oklahoma town or county can be lifted by posting that other bond from here (HB 1991).
Ask the jail at 580-623-9965 for the amount and where to pay. Our bail page lays out each step.
↑ Back to the question list7. Finding out what the person is accused of
Just ask. Jail staff at 580-623-9965 can read the booked charges to you. Arrest causes and booking entries count as public records in Oklahoma (51 O.S. § 24A.8).
Formal charges show up in court files after the District Attorney acts. Look up the name on Oklahoma District Court Records, or on the Oklahoma State Courts Network. Staff at the Court Clerk, 212 N. Weigle, Watonga, OK 73772, 580-623-5970, can search too.
What was booked and what gets filed are not always the same. Prosecutors can add, drop or rewrite counts.
↑ Back to the question list8. A court-appointed lawyer from jail
Jail staff hand out the application for appointed counsel when the person asks. A judge reviews it and may consider bail, but bail alone can't decide the answer (22 O.S. § 1355A).
A finding that the person can't afford counsel brings in the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System. Its Enid office serves this county, 205 W Maple Ave, Suite 410, Enid, OK 73701, 580-977-2040. The $40 application charge is paid into the Court Fund, and it can be held off until the end of the case.
The form is filed at the Court Clerk's office, 580-623-5970. OIDS staff can't assign anyone by phone.
↑ Back to the question list9. Blaine County jail visits: what to ask before you go
The jail sets its own visiting schedule. Before the drive to Watonga, phone 580-623-9965 and check:
- the open days and hours, and whether a slot must be reserved
- if visits happen face to face, on a screen, or either way
- which ID is needed and what must stay in your car
Under the state's jail standards, only facility security may cap how many visitors come and how long they stay. Kids may visit too, as long as a parent or legal guardian is with them (OAC 310:670-5-9). Our visitation page has general tips.
↑ Back to the question list10. Putting money on a Watonga inmate's account
The Sheriff's visitor page names one money option for families: a prepaid phone account. You set it up with the jail's phone provider at 318-746-1114 or on that company's website.
Families can also buy stamps, paper and envelopes for the person through the jail's commissary company. Those items arrive with the regular commissary delivery. A person whose account has stayed under $15 for 30 days can ask for free writing supplies, handed out each Friday.
To ask about other deposit methods, phone the jail at 580-623-9965. Our inmate money page covers jail accounts in general, and our commissary page covers snack and supply orders.
↑ Back to the question list11. Phone calls, texts and email from the jail
Right after intake, the person is entitled to place at least two calls, local or collect, under Oklahoma's jail rules (OAC 310:670-5-1). Family often hears from the person within a few hours.
Later calls run through the jail's phone vendor. So the person can reach you, open a prepaid direct-pay account at 318-746-1114 or online with that provider. Ask the jail, 580-623-9965, about tablets, texting or email. Our phone page and inmate email page cover the basics.
↑ Back to the question list12. Letters and books for the Blaine County jail
The Sheriff's visitor page gives this address. Call 580-623-9965 to confirm it before you mail anything:
Person's first and last name
205 North Burford Avenue, Watonga, OK 73772
- Every piece is opened and searched, and some are read at random.
- Photos must be 4x6 inches or smaller, not framed, not instant prints and not sexual.
- Paperback books only, mailed direct from the publisher or a bookstore, three at a time.
- Magazines and newspapers need approval first through an Inmate Request Form.
- Anything the commissary sells is returned to the sender.
- Privileged mail, such as a lawyer's letter, gets opened while the person watches, and staff skip reading it.
The state puts no ceiling on letters in or out (OAC 310:670-5-9). More help is on our mail page.
↑ Back to the question list13. Personal belongings: storage and pickup
Belongings taken at intake are listed and locked away. When the person leaves, after staff confirm who the person is, everything is returned against that inventory and the person signs for it all (OAC 310:670-5-1).
For a family pickup before release, call the jail at 580-623-9965, 220 N. Burford, Watonga, OK 73772. Find out whether a signed OK from the person is required, what time to arrive and which ID to carry.
↑ Back to the question list14. Sick, hurt or on medication while jailed
By law, an Oklahoma jail must provide adequate care for an illness or injury that arises after arrest (74 O.S. § 192). Health screening is done on arrival. After a written request, a licensed medical worker must see the person inside 48 hours, faster when urgent (OAC 310:670-5-8).
Tell jail staff at 580-623-9965 about any condition or prescription the person depends on. Complaints about care may be sent to the state's jail inspectors, 123 Robert S. Kerr Ave., Suite 1702, Oklahoma City, OK 73102, 405-426-8170.
↑ Back to the question list15. Is there a Blaine County warrant out? How to check and resolve it
The Sheriff's deputies serve county warrants, so ask the Sheriff's Office at 580-623-5111. Its Most Wanted list is online as well. For the state, look at DOC's Orange Alert page and the Attorney General's 10 Most Wanted. For nationwide fugitives, there is the U.S. Marshals 15 Most Wanted. Docket pages on ODCR or OSCN may list a warrant too. To resolve one, a defense lawyer can set up a turn-in with the judge who signed it, or the issuing court can set a bond or another date. Clerk's office: 212 N. Weigle, Watonga, OK 73772, 580-623-5970.
↑ Back to the question list16. Their next court date
Court dates for state cases are kept by the Court Clerk, 212 N. Weigle, Watonga, OK 73772, 580-623-5970, open weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Dates also show on the case in ODCR or OSCN.
City cases from Geary go to its municipal court, 115 S. Broadway, Geary, OK 73040, 405-884-5466. Watonga city matters run through the City Clerk, 410 W Main Street, Watonga, OK 73772, 580-623-4669. Our criminal court guide explains each hearing.
↑ Back to the question list17. Tracking someone held on federal charges
Oklahoma City is where this county's federal cases are tried, at the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma, 200 NW 4th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73102, 405-609-5000.
- Lawyers argue over pretrial release at a federal detention hearing (18 U.S.C. 3142).
- Deputy U.S. marshals keep federal defendants until trial. Phone the Marshals office, 200 Northwest 4th Street, Room 2022, Oklahoma City, OK 73102, 405-231-4206, to ask which facility.
- Many are held at the Federal Transfer Center, 7410 S. MacArthur Boulevard, Oklahoma City, OK 73169, 405-682-4075.
- Once sentenced, look them up with the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator.
18. Locating a person in ICE custody
- ICE files Form I-247A with the county jail.
- The jail may hold the person up to 48 hours after they would otherwise be released (8 CFR 287.7(d)).
- ICE officers from the Dallas Field Office, which covers Oklahoma, take custody. Its local office is at 1220 Sovereign Row, Oklahoma City, OK 73108, 405-219-3199.
- Detainees are often taken to Cimarron Correctional Facility, 3200 S. Kings Hwy., Cushing, OK 74023. Its detainee information line is 918-225-3336, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Have the full name, birth date, home country and A-number ready.
- Try the nine-digit A-number first, then name plus homeland, in the ICE Online Detainee Locator.
Oklahoma's HB 4156 (21 O.S. § 1795) targets unlawful presence under state law. A federal injunction keeps it from use while the appeal is decided.
↑ Back to the question list19. Finding someone sent to an Oklahoma prison
DOC says a person sentenced to prison typically spends 6 to 9 more months in county custody before state pickup. A reception center then assesses them and sets a custody level, and they move on to a prison at that level.
- The DOC Offender Lookup shows their current prison.
- See our Oklahoma state prisons page for visits and mail at each prison.
- Letters to a prison carry the person's name plus their ODOC number.
- DOC is at 4345 North Lincoln Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73105, 405-425-2500.
20. If the arrested person is a minor
Anyone under 18 belongs in juvenile detention, never in the adult jail's general housing. If an adult jail must hold a youth to book or move them, the limit is six hours, with walls and distance keeping grown inmates from seeing or hearing them. Jail standard OAC 310:670-5-5 sets this.
The Office of Juvenile Affairs oversees youth cases here, 2501 N. Lincoln Blvd., Suite 500, Oklahoma City, OK 73105, 405-530-2800. That office can name the center holding the child. The court file is kept by the Court Clerk, 580-623-5970.
