Craig County Jail Inmate Search
Craig County Inmate Search: Tracking Down Someone Jailed in Vinita
Grown-ups arrested across this corner of northeast Oklahoma are held at the Craig County Jail, 210 W. Delaware Ste. 101, Vinita, OK 74301, a Sheriff's Office jail inside the courthouse. Use this page to locate the person, then sort out charges, a lawyer, visits, deposits, letters, belongings and court.
The Sheriff's jail lookup takes a name and returns charges and booking details, listed by booking date and refreshed every hour. When someone leaves or is moved, the Sheriff sends families to VINELink for that news.
No match yet? Call the Sheriff's Office at 918-256-6466 to check whether a booking happened, which charges were filed and if bail exists. For getting out, see our bail page; for how the case unfolds, see our court page.
1. How do I use the Craig County inmate lookup?
- Go to the Sheriff's inmate search.
- Enter the last name. You can also scroll, since entries are sorted by booking date.
- Tap the person's entry to see the charges and booking information.
- Copy down the Inmate ID#. Mail and deposits both ask for it.
- Check back later if an arrest from the last hour is absent, because the list refreshes hourly.
Still no luck? The Sheriff's main line, 918-256-6466, is answered weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For an emergency, dial 911.
↑ Back to the question list2. No match in the jail list? Try these checks
- Booking isn't done. Fingerprints and paperwork take a while, and the list catches up each hour.
- They already left. A bond got paid, perhaps, or a judge ordered them out. VINE, at 877-654-8463, records releases and transfers.
- They went elsewhere. Another county's jail, a federal hold or juvenile detention may have them.
- Spelling. Retry with a short form like Bill for William, or a surname from before a marriage.
- A tribal officer made the arrest. The Cherokee Nation houses its prisoners in contracted jails. Its Justice Services office is at P.O. Box 948, Tahlequah, OK 74465, 918-453-5610.
The quickest answer comes from the jail itself. Ring the Sheriff's Office, 210 W. Delaware Ste. 101, Vinita, OK 74301, at 918-256-6466 and ask whether the person was booked.
↑ Back to the question list3. Neighboring jails worth checking
Adults arrested here normally stay in the Vinita jail. When the arrest was close to where counties meet, phone these too:
- Ottawa County Jail, Sheriff's Office at 28 B St SE, Miami, OK 74354, 918-542-2806
- Mayes County Jail, 1 Court Place Suite 150, Pryor, OK 74361, jail line 918-825-6500
- Delaware County Jail, 327 S. 5th Street, Jay, OK 74346, jail line 918-253-4530
- Rogers County Jail (Amos G. Ward Detention Center), 114 South Missouri Ave., Claremore, OK 74017, Sheriff's Office 918-342-9700
- Nowata County Jail, 229 North Maple, Nowata, OK 74048, 918-273-2287
Minors go to juvenile detention instead, such as the county juvenile detention center, 442104 East 250 Road, Vinita, OK 74301, 918-256-6488. Federal prisoners passing through the state may be at the Federal Transfer Center, 7410 S. MacArthur Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73169, 405-682-4075.
↑ Back to the question list4. Booking photos and the Craig County search
The Sheriff's lookup is built around names, charges and booking details. To ask for a booking photo, make a written request at the Sheriff's Office, 210 W. Delaware Ste. 101, Vinita, OK 74301. Most records requests there are handled in person and in writing, though jail booking reports can be requested by email. Call 918-256-6466 to learn the steps.
Oklahoma's Open Records Act opens jail booking data to the public. It also covers why someone was arrested and what they look like (51 O.S. § 24A.8).
- To seek an ICE photo, use that agency's FOIA portal.
- Federal mugshots mostly stay sealed, though the Marshals Service sometimes shares one to help find a fugitive.
5. Release and transfer alerts through OK VINE
Yes, you can. OK VINE is Oklahoma's free tracking and notice service, which the state Attorney General's office oversees. It reports custody changes such as a release, a transfer or an escape. The Sheriff's lookup itself steers families to VINE for this.
- Visit VINELink, or phone 877-654-8463 at any hour.
- Search by name and choose the matching person.
- Pick how you want to hear: a call, a text or an email.
Once the person enters DOC custody, they receive a new ID number, so register again after the transfer. VINE can also show the status of a protective order.
↑ Back to the question list6. Bail basics for someone held in Vinita
A judge usually sets bail in a state case, and Oklahoma's constitution protects the right to bail for most charges (Okla. Const. art. II § 8). A family can pay the full amount as a cash bond, hire a licensed bondsman for a fee, or put up land as a property bond. A short list of charges, including some violent crimes and a third felony DUI, can mean no bail. Anyone arrested for DUI a second time waits for a judge before release. Ask the Sheriff's Office at 918-256-6466 for the amount and where it is paid, then read our bail and bond page for each step.
↑ Back to the question list7. Learning the exact charges
Each entry on the Sheriff's search lists the booking charges. The District Attorney may file different or fewer charges later. To see what was really filed:
- Search the name on OSCN or ODCR.
- Paper files can be viewed at the Court Clerk's counter, 210 W. Delaware, Vinita, OK 74301.
- Contact the prosecutor's office, 210 W. Delaware, 2nd Floor, Vinita, OK 74301, 918-256-3320.
For a felony committed after January 1, 2026, the charge also carries a letter class. Thanks to HB 2105, judgments now record the letter class and how long, at minimum, the person stays locked up.
↑ Back to the question list8. Getting a lawyer for someone in custody
Anyone locked up without money for a defense attorney can get the appointed-counsel form by asking a detention officer. Completed forms go to the Court Clerk. A district judge then rules on eligibility.
- There's a $40 Court Fund fee. Ask for it to be put off until the case closes.
- Approved cases go to the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System, which uses a contract office here: 1000 W Wilshire Blvd, Suite 362, Oklahoma City, OK 73116, 918-607-3790.
- The appointment itself comes from the judge, not from a phone call to OIDS.
- Families remain free to retain their own attorney.
9. Video visits at the Craig County Jail
Visits here happen on video screens, in two ways:
- On site. Kiosks in the jail's visiting room are open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
- From home. Remote video visits run daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. The one gap is 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, held for other jail activities.
To start, open an account with the jail's video visit company and add money to a prepaid or PIN debit account. Once a visit is booked, a text message arrives with a link to join. State jail rules limit visits only for security reasons, and minors must bring a parent or legal guardian, per OAC 310:670-5-9, the state rule on visits. For ID rules, call 918-256-6466. Our visitation guide has more tips.
↑ Back to the question list10. Adding money to an inmate's account
Deposits can be made in person on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Sheriff's Office, 210 W. Delaware Ste. 101, Vinita, OK 74301:
- Feed cash or a credit card into the kiosk in the lobby.
- Or hand over a money order payable to the inmate by name.
To ask about other ways to deposit, phone 918-256-6466 during those hours. Account money pays for snacks and supplies from the commissary, which a private company runs. Never send cash through the mail. Our deposit guide and commissary guide explain more.
↑ Back to the question list11. Phone calls, messages and photos from home
State jail rules promise every new arrival at least two phone calls, local or collect, after a short wait the jail sets (OAC 310:670-5-1). A first call often comes within hours. Later calls run on the jail's phone service. Ring 918-256-6466 for account setup and call prices.
Friends can also send electronic messages, photos included, through the same company that scans the jail's mail. Assume calls and messages can be monitored. Facts about the charges belong only in talks with the defense lawyer. More help: our phone guide and inmate messaging guide.
↑ Back to the question list12. Mailing a letter to a Craig County inmate
Personal letters don't go to the jail building. Since August 1, 2020, cards and letters travel first to an Oklahoma City scanning center. The person reads a scanned copy on a kiosk or tablet, and the paper is destroyed. Address it exactly like this:
JailATM.com – Craig County Jail
Inmate ID#: Inmate Full Name
12101 N. MacArthur Blvd. Ste. A. Box #421
Oklahoma City, OK 73162
Print the full name and Inmate ID# clearly on the outside of the envelope or postcard. The ID# appears on the Sheriff's inmate search.
Legal and business mail goes to the jail at the Sheriff's address, 210 W. Delaware Ste. 101, Vinita, OK 74301. A court's or attorney's letter may be opened only in the inmate's presence, under OAC 310:670-5-9.
Leave out racy or nude images, pictures or talk of crimes, escape, lock-picking or self-defense how-tos, weapon or bomb instructions, drugs or biohazards, and threats. Our mail guide covers the rest.
↑ Back to the question list13. Picking up belongings left at booking
Whatever the person had at booking gets logged and stored. On release day, staff confirm identity, hand back every listed item and get a signature confirming nothing is missing, as OAC 310:670-5-1 directs.
Want to collect items for someone who is staying in? First call 918-256-6466 to find out if the inmate has to okay the pickup in writing. Then show a photo ID at the front counter, 210 W. Delaware Ste. 101, Vinita, OK 74301, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on a weekday.
↑ Back to the question list14. Sick or hurt in jail: what care is owed
Under Oklahoma's jail standards, intake includes a health check for every new arrival. New inmates hear how sick-call requests work. Once one is submitted properly in writing, an appointment with a licensed clinician follows in 48 hours at most, quicker for urgent problems (OAC 310:670-5-8). The law also requires adequate care for injuries or illness from the arrest onward (74 O.S. § 192).
Worried about their health? Phone the jail at 918-256-6466 with the person's name, each medicine and dose, and the doctor's number. When a life is at risk, use 911.
↑ Back to the question list15. Searching for an open Craig County warrant
Serving warrants here is a Sheriff's Office job. You can ask about one at 918-256-6466 or in person at 210 W. Delaware Ste. 101, Vinita, OK 74301. These official pages list wanted people: the Sheriff's Most Wanted, the Oklahoma 10 Most Wanted from the state Attorney General, DOC Orange Alert escapes and the U.S. Marshals' national 15 Most Wanted page. Filed cases, warrants included, can be checked on OSCN and ODCR. Talk to a lawyer before acting. The usual path is turning yourself in before the judge who issued the warrant, or asking that court's clerk about a bond or a later date. The District Court Clerk keeps its office in the courthouse, 210 W. Delaware, Vinita, OK 74301.
↑ Back to the question list16. Finding out the date of the next hearing
Every court below runs a separate docket:
- District Court, for state felonies and misdemeanors: Court Clerk, 210 W. Delaware, Vinita, OK 74301. Dates also show on OSCN and ODCR.
- Langley Municipal Court: 324 W. Osage Ave, Langley, OK 74350, 918-782-9850.
- City of Vinita tickets: the police department at 104 East Illinois Ave., Vinita, OK 74301, 918-256-6414, can point you to the municipal court.
While the person is held, jail staff at 210 W. Delaware Ste. 101, Vinita, OK 74301, 918-256-6466, can share the date. Our court page covers each step of a case.
↑ Back to the question list17. Locating someone in federal custody
- Phone the U.S. Marshals Service for the Northern District of Oklahoma, 333 West 4th Street, Suite 2050, Tulsa, OK 74103, 918-200-0600. Marshals keep federal prisoners before trial and know where each one is.
- Some pass through the Federal Transfer Center, 7410 S. MacArthur Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73169, 405-682-4075, a short-stay hub for prisoners in transit. Others sit in a county jail with a federal contract.
- Pretrial custody is decided at a detention hearing (18 U.S.C. 3142). The federal clerk is at 333 W. 4th Street, Room 411, Tulsa, OK 74103, 918-699-4700.
- After sentencing, search the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator.
18. Finding a person taken by ICE
- Immigration officers can lodge a detainer (Form I-247A) at the county jail.
- That lets the jail hold the person up to 48 hours after they would otherwise be released (8 CFR 287.7(d)).
- ICE officers collect the person. Oklahoma cases fall under the Dallas Field Office, 8101 N. Stemmons Frwy, Dallas, TX 75247, 972-367-2200. Its Oklahoma office is at 1220 Sovereign Row, Oklahoma City, OK 73108, 405-219-3199.
- Detainees may be moved to Cimarron Correctional Facility, 3200 S. Kings Hwy., Cushing, OK 74023. Its information line, 918-225-3336, is staffed 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Keep the A-number handy, along with the legal name, any alias, date of birth and native country.
- Search the ICE Online Detainee Locator.
Oklahoma's state immigration crime, HB 4156, is stopped for now by a federal judge's injunction, and the appeal remains undecided.
↑ Back to the question list19. Following someone to an Oklahoma prison
After a state prison sentence, people often stay in the county jail a good while. DOC says 6 to 9 months is typical. Then comes a DOC reception center for assessment, and later a prison that matches the custody level.
- The DOC Offender Lookup shows a prisoner's current location by name.
- Our Oklahoma state prisons list explains visiting and mail for every facility.
- A letter to someone in DOC custody must show their name and ODOC number.
- Department of Corrections: 4345 N. Lincoln Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73105, 405-425-2500.
20. A minor in custody: different rules
Youth are held in juvenile detention rather than with adults. State rule OAC 310:670-5-5 lets an adult jail keep a youth no more than six hours, kept wholly separate from grown inmates, while staff identify, process or transfer them. The detention center listed for this county is the county juvenile center, 442104 East 250 Road, Vinita, OK 74301, 918-256-6488. Parents can also reach the Office of Juvenile Affairs district office, 441 N. Wilson, Vinita, OK 74301, 918-323-0022, on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
