About the Greenville County Detention 'Building 2'

The Greenville County Detention Center is comprised of three separate buildings, this, Building #2, and Building #1 and Building #4, and houses only adult inmates, with a separate juvenile facility located nearby. These facilities contain not only housing but also booking and release, welfare services, transportation areas, medical and dental sections, mental health services, laundry, and food services.

These ensure that inmates have access to each of the services that they need to stay health while incarcerated, and to even improve their situation to prepare for success upon their release.

Addictions are addressed, mental health concerns are treated, and new skills can be learned. The full capacity is 1,277 inmates, with a combination of double cells and dorm units. Building Two is the old jail and was finished in 1976, then expanded and updated from a capacity of 203 to 511 with a focus on housing inmates.

Another building was added in 1994 and is known as the new jail, or Building One, and has been updated to increase capacity to 318 inmates in several units.

The last building, #4 was added in 2007 and is mostly housing but also has space that maintains the many services that are available.

Part of maintaining inmate mental health is access to contact with loved ones who are not incarcerated. This contact can be key to the progress they are making during their incarceration, and is encouraged by facilitators.

The first and easiest to maintain is phone calls, which are only outgoing from the facility without the ability for people to call an inmate from outside. The phone accounts are created and funded through securustech.net, and every call is monitored or recorded for the safety of both inmates and staff. Phones are available to the general population from 7:30 each morning until midnight, with breaks for head counts and other functions.

Mail can also be sent and received through a third party service that will check for contraband and upload the mail into the electronic system which is accessed via a kiosk in the housing units.

It can be sent to:

Inmate's Full Name & Inmate ID#
C/O Securus Digital Mail Center-Greenville
PO BOX 969
Lebanon, MO 65536

Mail that does not meet the standards published on the website will be returned to sender or destroyed. Legal mail can go directly to the detention center and will be opened in the presence of the inmate to look for contraband before it is given to them.

Visits are perhaps the most important of these forms of contact, and are available 7 days a week with each inmate being permitted to have two visits each week for a half hour each. Times are based upon housing units, and are done via video monitor or through glass in the visiting area. Buildings #1 and #2 allow people to book on the same day of the visit, in person, and is done on a first come first served bases. Building #4 has hours from 8 am until 9 pm and is also done on a first come first served bases, and all building have restricted hours from 5:30-7am for breakfast, 11-12:30pm for lunch, and 4-5:30pm for supper.

In addition to deposits made online or over the phone with jailpackstore, you can also deposit money for an inmate as follows:

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person; in either Building One (20 McGee St) or Building Two (4 McGee St).

Mail to:
Accounting Specialists
