Juvenile offenders who are requiring detention as they wait for their detention hearing or trial, which will occur within 24 to 48 hours of their arrest, or who are waiting for their adjudication and have been determined to require detention until then. It accepts youth who are 11 years old or older, and who are 18 years old or younger, with some remaining past their 18th birthday if they are admitted as a juvenile. With a capacity for 72 detainees, they accept both male and female juveniles and house them in separate housing pods with others who are the same gender, age range, and with a similar criminal history to provide a safe environment. Programming is provided for education, social skill development, teaching new life skills, and both recreational time and counseling or medical treatment as needed. Rehabilitation efforts are made to reduce recidivism, and alternatives to detention programs offer methods of supervision and rehabilitation that do not require detention, lowering the rates of juvenile detention. Healthy meals are made in the onsite kitchen and meet or exceed the requirements for school meals, as well as teachers providing an education equal to that pf the public schools.
