About the Harding County Jail
Harding County holds a medium security holding facility that is located with the sheriff’s office for the easy transport and cooperation of the two responsibilities. It functions in cooperation with the South Dakota Department of Corrections which operates the larger facilities that are located nearby and sets the standards for the jails around the state. It maintains all of the needed facilities of the inmates, including a medical treatment space, addictions counselling, and all transportation to and from court hearings or bail hearings. Clothing is provided while incarcerated, along with the ability to make phone calls to friends and family members along with visits that are booked by calling the facility and will occur on the weekends only between 9am and 3pm. To add money to the account of an inmate the JPay website accepts payments, as does the kiosk in the lobby of the facility. To mail money for an inmate or to send correspondence it must be done through the US Postal Service and all correspondence will be checked for contraband before being provided to the inmate.
