Rules for visitors at the Rockport jail

  • Every visitor fills out a visitor slip and hands it to the control room with valid photo ID; without valid, approved ID there is no visit.
  • Visitors from more than 100 miles away use the weekday-morning hours with a valid driver’s license, or a passport for visitors from outside the U.S.
  • Attorneys bring a bar card and photo ID; lawyers for federal prisoners need U.S. Marshals approval or proof they are attorney of record.

Jail line: 361-790-0168.

When are visiting hours?

Each housing unit has its own slots, and those slots get revised. Phone 361-790-0168 for this week's schedule before making the trip.

What must visitors show at the control room?

The completed slip plus a current picture ID. No approved identification means no visit that day.

Can someone who lives far away arrange a visit?

Possibly. Out-of-town relatives should phone 361-790-0168 and say how far they are traveling; staff explain any separate times and the ID required.

What does a lawyer need for a client visit?

Counsel shows a state bar card along with identification. For a federal prisoner, the Marshals Service must approve the lawyer, or the lawyer proves they are attorney of record. Attorney hours: 361-790-0168.

Are visits by video possible?

The Sheriff’s visitation policy covers in-person visits only.
