R. J. Holmgreen Juvenile Justice Center Information

Staff throughout the RJ Holmgreen Juvenile Justice Center focus on the safety and security of the facility, while gathering information about youths' lives and needs to determine what programs and services will provide the best results for the juvenile. With a capacity of 48 single cells and 4 isolation cells, there is a potential for up to 80 beds to be accessed in the location. Each of the youth will be housed in a unit that contains others with the same gender, age range, history of prior detentions, and those facing similar charges or seriousness of charges. This provides the safest and most comfortable housing arrangements for all of the youth, and they will spend much of their day with the rest of their housing unit. Classes are conducted on weekdays by teachers from the local school district that will allow them to continue to receive credit for all classwork completed. Staff also includes a physician and nurse practitioner as well as a licensed practical nurse to care for all medical needs, a psychologist and professional counselor for their mental health needs, and a contracted dentist to offer all needed dental care. An assessment that is conducted at the intake is used to determine their grade level, what services they need, to determine all medical needs, and to prepare them as best possible for their experience including rules and routines. Mail: 1904 WEST SH 21, BRYAN, TX, 77803 Staff may check all mail for contraband before it is permitted in the housing units, and all illegal items will be removed. Mail must be through the postal service with a full return address and name of the sender. Phone: Phones allow the residents to contact their parents or guardians throughout their stay.
