Denton County Juvenile Detention Center

As a short term secure facility, the Denton County Juvenile Detention Center houses juveniles from the community when they are facing charges in the juvenile court. While they are withing the care and control of the facility they will be expected to attend school classes each weekday, attend any therapy or counseling that is recommended, and to participate in physical education and recreational activities. Within the center there is a cafeteria and space for serving healthy meals, classrooms that are staffed by the school district, counseling areas and crisis intervention space, 12 bed housing units the contain a day room for each unit, indoor and outdoor recreational spaces, a library for both schoolwork and recreational reading, individual secure rooms for lock down and sleeping each with a toilet, sink, water, and a bed, a medical wing, and a visiting area. A level system is used to reward positive behaviors and to set up consequences for negative ones, which works to ensure the security and the safety of the students, staff, and community. Mail: 210 S. Phone: Phones are a key form of communication between family members and the youth who are in detention, and they are able to call home twice a week through Smart Connections.
