Inmates have access to religious services and library resources through volunteer programs. The jail also operates two inmate work programs: the diversion work program, which provides community services, and the garden project, which allows inmates to cultivate produce for the jail's kitchen.

To send money to an inmate, the Grimes County Jail only accepts money orders or cashier's checks made out to the Inmate Trust Fund. The inmate's name must be noted on the money order or cashier's check, and the sender's name, address, and phone number should appear in the "sender" section. What happens during booking at Grimes County Jail?

After arrest, individuals are processed at Grimes County Jail, where they undergo a series of steps that determine their charges and whether they’ll be released on their own recognizance, allowed to post bail, or held until their court date.

The first rule for anyone arrested is to remain silent. Anything they say can be used in court, so it’s best to speak only to an attorney about the incident.

Here are the typical stages of the booking process at Grimes County Jail:

  • Verifying the person’s identity.
  • Taking mugshots.
  • Questions regarding medical and mental health history, along with drug and gang affiliations.
  • Collecting DNA if necessary.
  • Conducting a physical search.
  • Confiscating personal belongings.
  • Providing a phone call.

If you need details about an offender’s bail or bond, contact the facility at 936-873-2151.

How do you post bail in Grimes County?

If someone is taken to Grimes County Jail in Anderson for booking, the next steps depend on their case:

1. The individual may be released without bail, under a promise to appear at a court hearing.
2. They could be held in custody until their trial.
3. They may post a bail or bond for release. To find out the exact bail amount, call 936-873-2151.

Bail payments can be handled in various ways.

  • Cash bonds are paid in full, normally at the jail's bonding window or with the clerk of court, by cash, cashier's check or money order, and card payments are often possible through a kiosk in the lobby or an online vendor for a convenience fee; have the inmate's full name and booking number ready, and reach the jail at 936-873-2151.
  • Licensed bail bond agents in Grimes County can facilitate payment.
  • Property bonds are available in many courts: an owner may pledge land or a home after proving clear title and equity of at least the bond amount (often double) with the deed and a recent tax or appraisal figure, and the court that set bail decides whether to accept it.

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Grimes County Jail?

There are three choices for putting money on an inmate's books:

Choice 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail

Ask the jail whether it takes deposits in person before you go.

Call Grimes County Jail to ask whether it has a Tiger kiosk for cash or card deposits, and where it is.

If you can't get your questions answered online call the Grimes County Jail at 936-873-2151.

Choice 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online

Tiger Commissary's online site lists the services set up for each jail, such as commissary orders or deposits.

Go to Tiger's online site, pick the state and the jail, and see which services it offers there.

Choice 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail

Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union.

Call Grimes County Jail at 936-873-2151 to confirm the address to send the money order to and how they want it made out.

Failure to do this properly will delay your inmate getting his account credited and may require you to have to resubmit a second money order.

Call 936-873-2151 to ask facility personnel who to make the money order out to, and where to send it.
