The Hunt County Detention Center, with 345 beds, is located at 2801 Stuart Street in Greenville, TX 75401, in the same complex as the Sheriff's Department.
The detention center was built in 2003 for $15 million. But it's already falling apart and has multiple problems in the design that make it unsafe for staff. It was so poorly done that the county sued and recovered over $9 million from the engineering firm, the architect, and the court management firm.
Hunt County Commissioners recently purchased a 60 acre tract at 201 E. Interstate 30, near Exit 95, not far from the Cowleech Fork of the Sabine River’s crossing under the interstate to build a new jail but the people keep voting it down. So until they OK the construction of a new jail, Hunt County is stuck with this one.
If you are looking for information about current inmates in Hunt County, you can find their records, which includes name, booking date, mugshot, criminal charges, SO#, date of birth, height, weight and bond amount.

After an arrest, individuals are brought to Hunt County Detention Center in Greenville for processing. Following this, three possible outcomes exist:
1. The individual may be released without posting bail, with a promise to appear in court.
2. The individual could be held in jail until their court date.

Bail payment can be handled through various means.
- Pay a cash bond in full at the bonding window inside the jail or at the clerk of court, by cash, cashier's check or money order; a lobby kiosk or online bond vendor often takes debit and credit cards for an extra fee, and you should bring the inmate's full name and booking number (the jail can be reached at 903-453-6849).
- Licensed bail bond agents in Hunt County are available for assistance.
- Land or a home can often serve as bond collateral: the owner provides a deed and a recent tax or appraisal value showing clear title and equity of at least the bond amount, commonly double, and the court that set bail approves the pledge.
