About the Middle River Regional Jail

When the Augusta County Jail became overwhelmed it became necessary to find a solution to overcrowding, the Middle River Regional Jail was built to do just that in 2006.

It houses the offenders who are arrested throughout Augusta County, and family can determine if someone is housed there by calling the front desk at 540-245-5420.

Upon its completion it alleviated the pressure off of surrounding jails and allowed for improved services, increased programming, and more living space for inmates.

To support self improvement and rehabilitation there are extracurricular activities including Bingo and outside activities to provide recreation time, GED classes, assistance to get identification documents, and workshops to help inmates prepare to re-enter into the community.

As studies have shown that having contact with their support system outside of the building is also beneficial to the mental health of the offenders, which also improves the safety and reduces recidivism and incidents during incarceration, there is access to phones, tablets, mail, and visits.

Phones are located in common areas and there are tablets added for video visits and messages, and these accounts can be funded online. By funding these accounts family and friends are able to be in contact with inmates throughout their incarceration.

Mail is also available and delivered daily, it can be sent to:

Inmate's Full Name & Inmate ID#
Smart Communications / Middle River Regional Jail-VA
PO Box 9179
Seminole, FL 33775-9174

... and it will be checked upon arrival and before being sent out for contraband, conversations of illegal activity, and adult content.

Credits for tablets and phones are provided for free as well, resetting on Sunday ensuring all residents are able to receive messages and to make a phone call every week.

Visits are both video, through use of the tablets in the common areas, as well as in person, with video visits onsite being available Monday-Friday 8:30am-10:30am, 1:30pm-3:45pm, and 6:30pm-8:30pm, and on weekends for only the morning and afternoon sessions. Visitors must register in advance by at least one full day.
