About the Page County Jail
The original blueprint for the Page County Jail was developed in 1967 and the facility was to cost approximately $280,000. It included 12 security housing units and 2 isolation cells, clean spaces, a holding cell, full kitchen and a laundry area, as well as visiting areas and offices, with 12 more security cells upstairs, with an additional 2 isolation cells. There was a full apartment for the jailer. Currently the jail houses both male and female inmates, and all juvenile offenders are transported directly to the juvenile facility nearby. Included with the service and programs that are available are GED, work release, work detail, AA and anger management, house arrest, counselling, a full library, and recreation programming. Those who are working with the work detail and work release will be provided opportunities to work with the landfill, animal shelter, town staff, charities, and more. These jobs are performed during the day and their location is monitored, with a return to jail at the end of each shift. Intended to both fill the days for the inmates and help to develop or maintain employable skills, having a job or volunteer work can benefit the community as well as the inmate. Improving the opportunities for full time employment after release is one of the many ways the facility assist inmates in their personal growth and reintegration plans. Another way in which inmates are cared for and assisted is through the medical care that they receive. A doctor attends the jail each week to provide care for those who need it, and it is mandated that each new inmate report to the jail nurse to make arrangement for their health care while they are incarcerated. Upon arrival at the facility there is permitted a wedding ring, one religious necklace, one pair of white or grey undergarments that is being worn into the facility, sweatpants and shorts that are being worn into the jail, any money present will be deposited to the inmate account to fund commissary purchases for additional clothing and other needs. Access to phones is provided each day from 6am until 11pm through Pay-Tel. Visits occur from the same hours via video through homewav.com.
