Other Jails and Prisons

The most reliable way to check on someone in Bibb County, Alabama is a phone call to the Bibb County Jail at 205-926-9581. Statewide, VINELink lets you search custody records for free and sign up for notifications. Avoid "inmate.bibbsheriff.us," because that roster covers Bibb County, Georgia. Alacourt holds Alabama case files, and so does the Bibb County docket list. For a person serving a state sentence, the Alabama Department of Corrections is the right place to search; its Bibb Correctional Facility is a separate prison on the same road.

Checking on an arrest

To learn whether someone is being held, ask the jail itself at 205-926-9581; staff there are the surest source. The statewide VINELink service is free to search and can send alerts. Our booking page describes the steps that follow an arrest.

Two mix-ups to avoid

First, the website "inmate.bibbsheriff.us" belongs to Bibb County, Georgia; it has nothing to do with the Bibb County Jail in Alabama. Second, Bibb Lane is shared with Bibb Correctional Facility, a state prison operated by the Alabama Department of Corrections. Look for number 94; that's the county jail. Someone serving state prison time should be looked up through the Alabama Department of Corrections instead.

Who is held

Adults arrested anywhere in Bibb County, Brent, Centreville and West Blocton included, are booked here. Some await court; others serve short sentences. Sentences beyond a year typically mean a move to state prison.

Centreville, Brent and nearby forces

These police departments may book their arrests into this jail:

  • Centreville Police Department, 205-926-5052
  • Brent Police Department, 205-926-4647
  • West Blocton Police Department (number varies by source; Bibb jail staff at 205-926-9581 can give the right one)
  • Woodstock Police Department, 205-938-9790 ext. 312

Part of Woodstock reaches into Tuscaloosa County. An arrest on that side, or in a town missing here, may lead somewhere else, and Bibb booking staff at 205-926-9581 can tell you where.

Bond

Jail staff can give out the bond figure and identify the court behind it. Most defendants in Alabama are entitled to bail; families typically pay cash, hire a licensed bondsman, or ask about a property bond. Details are on our bail page. Staff at 205-926-9581 can also tell you where bond gets posted.

Possible warrants

In Bibb County, an arrest warrant becomes public record only once it has been served. According to the Bibb County Circuit Clerk, someone who suspects a warrant must go in person to the Sheriff's Office at 157 S.W. Davidson Drive, Centreville (205-926-4683). Before surrendering, call that office to ask whether to report there or straight to the jail at 94 Bibb Lane. Misdemeanors from inside a town's limits run through that town's municipal court.

How do you pay bail for someone who has been arrested in Bibb County?

When an offender is arrested and brought to the Bibb County Jail in Brent for booking, there are several outcomes after being processed.

1. The offender will be released with no bail, promising to return on a specific date to appear before a judge in either Municipal or Bibb County Court.
2. The offender is ordered to remain in jail until their court date.
3. The offender is allowed to be released after paying a specified bond or bail.  Call 205-926-9581 to get the exact amount.

The payment of an offender's bail or bond can take many shapes.

  • A cash bond is paid in full at the jail's bonding window or the clerk of court, usually by cash, cashier's check or money order, and many jails also take debit or credit cards through a lobby kiosk or an online bond vendor for an added fee; bring the inmate's full name and booking number, and the jail's number is 205-926-9581.
  • It can be paid using a bail company, licensed to do business in Bibb County.
  • Many courts accept land or a home as bond collateral; the owner shows clear title and equity of at least the bond amount, often double, using a deed and a recent tax or appraisal value, and the court that set bail approves the property.

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Bibb County Jail?

There are FOUR options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person.
Either the jail personnel will process the Inmate Account payment or you will use a Jail ATM self-serve kiosk in the lobbies that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.

Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
Bibb County Jail uses Jail ATM to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Option 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail
Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union. Call the Bibb County Jail first as they may want you to do this online or at the jail kiosk instead.
Make the Money Order out to the payee the jail names (check with the jail first) and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order. Never mail cash or a personal check.
