Every detail on this page is checked by hand, not scraped. This unofficial directory helps friends and family of incarcerated individuals find critical information — inmate lists, locations, bail resources, visitation hours, rules, and text, phone, email, and mail services — for jails, detention centers, and prisons across the United States.
Looking for someone in custody? The inmate search tool shows everyone currently held at the 160-bed Geneva County Jail, and staff can answer questions around the clock at 334-684-5671.
Anyone arrested in the county on misdemeanor or felony charges comes through this facility for booking and processing. Depending on the charges, they may be held until they are bonded out, released on their own recognizance, or kept in custody until their trial is over.
People sentenced to under a year serve that time at this jail. Longer sentences are served in the Alabama State Prison System or the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
This page covers the visitation schedule, adding funds to an inmate’s account, mail rules, phone calls from inmates, voicemail, email and texting, tablet rentals, how to post bail, and commissary orders.
Keep the inmate’s jail ID or booking number handy, because most mail and messaging services require it. If you can’t find it online, call Geneva County Jail at 334-684-5671.

Although the Geneva County Jail is licensed for 160 inmates, it frequently holds more than that, particularly on weekends. City and county jails typically turn over at least 40% of their population every month, another 30% every 90 days, and another 20% every six months, with roughly 8-9% staying six to twelve months. Inmates who stay longer than a year are usually charged with serious crimes like murder or rape. Those cases take a long time to prepare for trial, so offenders arrested in Geneva County for them stay in the Geneva County facility much longer.
Geneva County law enforcement agencies arrest and detain approximately 3,200 offenders every year.

After an arrest in Geneva County, the person is booked at the jail, then brought before a judge for an initial appearance without unnecessary delay and within 72 hours, as Alabama Rule of Criminal Procedure 4.3 requires. Geneva County shares the 33rd Judicial Circuit with Dale County. Most defendants in Alabama have a right to bail. Judges may deny it in capital cases where the proof is evident, and under Aniah’s Law (2022) after a detention hearing for charges such as murder, rape, burglary, and robbery. Voters widened that list in May 2026 to include solicitation, attempt, or conspiracy to commit murder and shooting into an occupied building or vehicle. Rule 7.2 recommends ranges, such as $10,000–$60,000 for a Class A felony or $1,000–$7,500 for DUI, but judges can go higher or lower. Release may come on personal recognizance, an unsecured appearance bond, or a secured bond paid in cash, backed by property, or written by a professional bail bond company. Cash bonds may go through the Geneva County Circuit Clerk’s office at (334) 684-5625, and bonding typically runs 9–11 a.m. and 6–9 p.m.; call before you go.
