Cochise County Juvenile Detention Center INMATE & FAMILY SERVICES
Upon admission of your child to Cochise County Juvenile Detention Center, personal clothing and possessions will be stored in an assigned property basket (eyeglasses may be kept by your child in most instances).
A list of your child's property will be kept to assure the return of all items upon release.
After showering, clean clothing, footwear, bedding and personal hygiene items will be issued.
Children will shower and will be given clean clothing every day during detention.
Three nutritious, well balanced, meals are provided daily.
Special diets for your child will be adhered to when prescribed by appropriate medical personnel.
Your child will be attending school Monday through Friday, year-round, as mandated.
The course work is individually set for your child by our certified teaching staff.
Children will be expected to follow structured classroom procedures and we will facilitate the movement of students back to their home school after their release.
When appropriate, you may be asked by the teachers to assist in getting your child's assignments to and from his/her home school.
We will do everything we can to keep your child from falling behind at their regular school and your assistance is appreciated.

- The education team at the JDC consists of two certified teachers, one transition coordinator and Special Education staff.
- Within 24 hours of your detention hearing, the transition coordinator will enroll you in the school. (Weekends and holidays excluded)
- The detention school operates Monday through Friday every week of the year with a break only during ten designated holidays each year.
- First time detainees will take a diagnostic evaluation to establish their academic standing.
- The teachers conduct a regular classroom of educational activities that will benefit you while you are detained.
- Special Education services are available to students who require these services.
