Arizona allows an inmate to post bail or a bond (unless the judge considers them a flight risk or a danger to society) after their arrest and initial arraignment in Mohave County and Arizona.

About the Mohave County Jail

The Mohave County Jail, located in the city of Kingman, in Mohave County, Arizona is a medium to maximum-security facility.

Inmates in this jail range from low level misdemeanor offenders to those being held and awaiting trial for violent crimes like robbery, rape and murder. Therefore, the security level must be as high as is it would be in any maximum-security state prison. 

Security features in the Mohave County Jail include security cameras, electronic detection and reinforced fencing topped with razor wire.

Correctional officers in Mohave County Jail are armed with mace and trained to use physical force to protect themselves and other inmates from violence. 

All of the men and women being held in the Mohave County Jail are either awaiting trial or have been sentenced in the Mohave County Court System already and been sentenced to one year or less. 

The Corrections Division of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for maintaining and running this facility.

The staff is dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for inmates, themselves and visitors to the facility.  

Inmates in the Mohave County Jail are fed three meals a day totaling 2,500 calories, are allowed at least one hour a day for exercise, have access to books, a legal library, and bathroom and shower facilities.

Convicted and Sentenced Inmates

When an inmate is convicted and sentenced to a year or more, they are transferred to the Arizona State Prison System or the Federal Bureau of Prisons.  

Inmates that are convicted of a misdemeanor and/or sentenced to less than one year of a state crime serve their time in the jail. 

Illegal immigrants may be transferred into ICE custody and are then deported, however if they were convicted of a state or federal crime, they will do their time first.
