The law presumes release on a promise to appear. Judges can add a bond, pretrial supervision, or no-contact rules if needed. For a handful of grave felonies, a Kingman judge can order detention after a hearing. Read our Mohave bail guide.

7. Posting bond at the Kingman jail

19. Where do federal charges from Mohave County go?

Federal arrests start with teams from the Postal Inspection Service, Homeland Security Investigations, or the ATF, sometimes alongside state police. Hearings for Kingman cases take place in the U.S. courthouse in Flagstaff, 123 North San Francisco Street, Suite 200, Flagstaff, AZ 86001, under Arizona's federal district, Prescott Division. With questions, call the Flagstaff clerk at 928-774-2566. Expect a short interview with a pretrial services officer before court. An initial appearance comes fast, before a magistrate judge. Bail is not a set price in the federal courts. Using the federal Bail Reform Act, the judge holds a short hearing and decides release or detention.

Search for them with the county roster first. The Marshals in Flagstaff track anyone held on federal charges; call 928-213-0135. The office is at 123 North San Francisco Street, Suite 101, Flagstaff, AZ 86001. Meanwhile, the Marshals usually keep the person in a nearby jail by contract. Following sentencing to prison, the person moves to federal prison (the BOP). Track them with the BOP locator by register number.

20. What if ICE places a hold on a family member? What happens now

  • Jail fingerprints are compared with national records that ICE uses. Then ICE might place a detainer.
  • A posted bond won't clear the detainer.
  • A 48-hour limit applies; the detainer just asks the jail to wait before opening the door while a pickup is set up. After the 48 hours are up, the detainer expires.
  • ICE agents often collect them within those 48 hours. If ICE never collects them, that means release on the local case.
  • The next stop depends on ICE.
  • Arizona is handled by ICE's Phoenix ERO office, at 2035 North Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85004; call 602-257-5900.
  • To see which center holds them, visit the Online Detainee Locator System, then give the A-number on ICE papers with their country of birth. ICE also offers a search by full name, which needs country of birth, DOB, and the name they were booked under.

21. Bound for an ADCRR unit from Kingman? How the transfer works

If a judge imposes a prison term, the person becomes an ADCRR inmate under Arizona's corrections department. Until then, most people wait in the Kingman jail while the ADCRR schedules the move, sometimes for weeks. The transfer ends at reception, where they get processed. There, staff weigh gang connections, physical and emotional health, and security risk. Their final step is a unit that fits their rating.

You can look up the person by full name on the state inmate lookup. Our Arizona state prison page explains every state unit.

22. Who may request a Mohave County mugshot, and how?

When a mugshot isn't online, reporters can call the sheriff's office, 928-753-0753 and ask. The federal government does not release booking photos to the public or media. Marshals policy keeps release to three cases: to find an escaped prisoner, when people nearby must be protected right away, or if sharing it may help find them or alert the public. For an ICE booking photo, send an ICE records request; ICE must sign off.
