Questions remaining? Call the Logan County Detention Center directly at 479-963-3271.

The Logan County Detention Center is licensed for 100 inmates, but it is often forced to make room for more, especially on weekends. Of the inmates at most city and county jails in Arkansas, at least 40% turn over monthly, another 30% every 90 days, and another 20% every six months, while about 8-9% stay incarcerated six to twelve months. Inmates held longer than twelve months are usually facing serious charges such as rape or murder. Because those cases take longer to prepare for trial, offenders arrested in Logan County remain in one of the Logan County facilities much longer.

In Arkansas, all persons charged with a crime are bailable before conviction, except for capital offenses when the proof is evident or the presumption is great. Judges in Logan County can release defendants on their own recognizance, set conditions of release, or set a bail amount for any other offense.

Approximately 2,000 offenders are arrested and detained every year by Logan County law enforcement agencies.

Surrounded by a tree line and housing all offenders arrested in Logan County, for both misdemeanor and felony crimes, the 100-bed Logan County Detention Center is a pretrial and sentenced facility where most offenders will spend under one year.

The Logan County Detention Center, at 201 South Lowder Street in Paris, AR 72855, opened in 2019 as part of a $12 million building that also houses the county’s dispatch center, a courtroom and a training room. It replaced a 33-bed jail from 1989. The Logan County Sheriff’s Office runs the jail, and its 24-hour line is (479) 963-3271 (press 1). The detention center has 100 beds: 67 for men and 27 for women in the housing pods, plus 6 in booking. Low- and medium-security men, high-security men and women are housed separately.

Most of the people held here are waiting for their cases to be resolved. Others are serving sentences or waiting to be transferred to state or federal custody. The jail staff includes a jail administrator, shift sergeants, detention officers, transport officers and cooks, and every officer completes the state’s 56-hour jailer course. The sheriff’s office also keeps a Southern District office at 461 East Fifth Street in Booneville.

You can check who is in custody, and who has been released in the past 48 hours, on the sheriff’s online roster. Once someone is booked, Arkansas Rule of Criminal Procedure 8.1 requires a first appearance before a judge without unnecessary delay, generally within 48 hours. Logan County is in the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit, with Conway, Scott and Yell counties, and court records are on Search ARCourts at caseinfo.arcourts.gov/opad. If you think you may have a warrant, call the sheriff’s office or talk to a lawyer before turning yourself in.

Arkansas’ Constitution (Article 2, Section 8) guarantees bail before conviction except in capital cases when the proof is evident or the presumption great, and Rules 9.1 and 9.2 tell judges to consider release on recognizance or with conditions before setting money bail. A bail bondsman charges 10% of the bond, rounded up to the nearest $5 and paid in full before release, under Arkansas Code §17-19-301, plus small state-required nonrefundable fees. To post bond or pick someone up after release, go to the rear entrance by the garage (the sally port), marked with a white sign.

All visits are by video at kiosks in the front lobby on Wednesdays and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. The person in jail schedules the visit, and visits usually run 10 to 15 minutes, so call ahead to make sure you are on the list. Remote video visits and inmate account deposits run through City Tele Coin at citytelecoin.com ((318) 746-1114), which also provides phone service. The jail does not accept items dropped off for inmates except prescription medication and prescription glasses. Letters go to the person’s full name and inmate ID number, Logan County Jail, 201 South Lowder Street, Paris, AR 72855; paperback books must come from the publisher. Bringing contraband into the jail is a Class C felony.

No public bus serves Paris, so visitors drive. Circle S Food Store at 203 E. Walnut St. and Casey’s at 406 E. Walnut St. sell gas, and McDonald’s at 903 E. Walnut St. and Sonic Drive-In at 1305 E. Walnut St. are a short drive away.

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Logan County Detention Center?

There are two options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Choice 1 - Deposit Inmate Money Online

Logan County Detention Center uses CommissaryDeposit.com to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Choice 2 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail

Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union.

Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.

**Call 479-963-3271 first to ask Logan County Detention Center if this option is still available.
