Inside, detainees have television, telephones, church services, a law library and yard time. Medical care is contracted, with nurse calls, medication passes and a doctor who comes in weekly. If your loved one has a medical condition or takes prescriptions, call the jail early so staff know about it.
Arkansas law requires that an arrested person see a judge without unnecessary delay, generally within 48 hours (Arkansas Rule of Criminal Procedure 8.1). Everyone is bailable before conviction except in capital cases where the proof is evident or the presumption great (Ark. Const. art. 2, § 8). Judges weigh release on recognizance or with conditions first and set money bail only when nothing else will reasonably make sure the person comes back to court (Rules 9.1–9.2). The jail accepts cash, credit cards, money orders and property located in the county for bonds. Call for the amount. Visiting is on weekends. Men with last names A–M visit Saturday and N–Z visit Sunday, both from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., and women visit Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Visits last 30 minutes, and each person gets one a week with up to two guests. Arrive 30 minutes early with a government-issued photo ID, dress modestly, and make sure you’re on the visitor list. Call ahead to confirm, since schedules change. Osceola also has the nearest fast food: Sonic at 1480 W Keiser Ave and McDonald’s at 2720 W Keiser Ave.
