For anything else, call the Pike County Jail at 870-285-3413.
Here’s what to know about the Pike County Jail’s population:
- Licensed capacity: 80 inmates, though the jail often has to make room for more, especially on weekends
- Typical monthly turnover at city and county jails: at least 40%
- Additional turnover every 90 days: 30%
- Additional turnover every six months: 20%
- Held six to twelve months: about 8-9%
Inmates held longer than twelve months are usually facing serious charges like rape or murder. Because those cases take longer to prepare for trial, offenders arrested in Pike County remain in one of the Pike County facilities much longer.
Every defendant in Arkansas has a constitutional right to bail before conviction, except those charged with capital offenses when the proof is evident or the presumption is great. Judges in Pike County can set bail for any other charge, or release the defendant on their own recognizance or with conditions.
Every year, Pike County law enforcement agencies arrest and detain approximately 1,600 offenders.
The Pike County Jail shares its address with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office: 305 Industrial Park Drive in Murfreesboro, AR 71958. Sheriff Travis Hill’s office runs the jail, which has room for about 78 men and women. Most people inside are waiting on their cases in court; others are serving short county sentences or waiting for transfer to the Arkansas Division of Correction after a state sentence. The jail line is (870) 285-3413, and the sheriff’s office line is (870) 285-3315.
To see who is in custody, use the sheriff’s inmate search at pikecso.com/inmateSearch. If a name doesn’t show up yet, booking may still be underway, so give it a little time or call the jail. Under Arkansas Rule of Criminal Procedure 8.1, a person who is arrested goes before a judge without unnecessary delay, generally within 48 hours. Pike County felony cases are heard in the Ninth West Judicial Circuit, which also covers Howard, Little River and Sevier counties. You can follow a case on Search ARCourts at caseinfo.arcourts.gov/opad.
The Arkansas Constitution (Article 2, §8) makes everyone bailable before conviction except in capital cases where the proof is evident or the presumption great. Under Rules 9.1–9.2, the judge first looks at release on the person’s own recognizance or with conditions, and sets money bail only when nothing else will reasonably make sure the person returns to court. A licensed bail bond agent charges a premium of 10% of the bond, rounded up to the nearest $5 and paid in full before release (Arkansas Code §17-19-301), plus small nonrefundable state fees. Call the jail to ask about a bond amount and how it can be paid. If you think there is a warrant for you or a loved one, talk to the sheriff’s office or an attorney before going in.
Visits are by appointment on Thursdays and Sundays; call (870) 285-3414 to schedule. Bring a government-issued photo ID and dress modestly. City Tele Coin handles video visits: there is a free kiosk at the sheriff’s office, and you can register at citytelecoin.com to visit from home. The same company runs inmate phones and rental tablets.
Address letters with the person’s full name and ID number to Pike County Jail, PO Box 177, Murfreesboro, AR 71958. Money for commissary can be sent online through CommissaryDeposit.com or by money order through the mail. You can also buy commissary online to be delivered to an inmate at CommissaryOrder.com.
Call the jail before picking someone up so you know when the release paperwork will be done.

What happens during booking at Pike County Jail?
After arrest, individuals are processed at Pike County Jail, where they undergo a series of steps that determine their charges and whether they’ll be released on their own recognizance, allowed to post bail, or held until their court date.
The first rule for anyone arrested is to remain silent. Anything they say can be used in court, so it’s best to speak only to an attorney about the incident.
Here are the typical stages of the booking process at Pike County Jail:
- Verifying the person’s identity.
- Taking mugshots.
- Questions regarding medical and mental health history, along with drug and gang affiliations.
- Collecting DNA if necessary.
- Conducting a physical search.
- Confiscating personal belongings.
- Providing a phone call.
If you need details about an offender’s bail or bond, contact the facility at 870-285-3413.
How do you post bail in Pike County?
If someone is taken to Pike County Jail in Murfreesboro for booking, the next steps depend on their case:
1. The individual may be released without bail, under a promise to appear at a court hearing.
2. They could be held in custody until their trial.
3. They may post a bail or bond for release. To find out the exact bail amount, call 870-285-3413.
Bail payments can be handled in various ways.
- Cash bonds are paid in full, normally at the jail's bonding window or with the clerk of court, by cash, cashier's check or money order, and card payments are often possible through a kiosk in the lobby or an online vendor for a convenience fee; have the inmate's full name and booking number ready, and reach the jail at 870-285-3413.
- Licensed bail bond agents in Pike County can facilitate payment.
- Property bonds are available in many courts: an owner may pledge land or a home after proving clear title and equity of at least the bond amount (often double) with the deed and a recent tax or appraisal figure, and the court that set bail decides whether to accept it.

There are two options for putting money on an inmate's books:
Choice 1 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
Pike County Jail uses CommissaryDeposit.com to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.
Choice 2 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail
Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union.
Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.
**Call 870-285-3413 first to ask Pike County Jail if this option is still available.
