Did ICE place a hold on someone? Here are the steps

  • Immigration officers learn about the arrest through fingerprints staff take. ICE can then place a detainer.
  • With a detainer, ICE asks the Benton jail to delay release for no more than two days. After those 48 hours end, the detainer expires.
  • Posting the bond doesn't clear the detainer.
  • During the hold, ICE often comes to take custody. If the window passes, staff has to free them.
  • If the jail can't answer, try ICE's New Orleans field office on 504-318-2360; its address is 181 James Drive W, St. Rose, LA 70087.
  • Families can look for them online through the locator site, using the A-number plus birth country. There's also a name search; give it the person's full name, DOB and birth country.
  • Their next facility depends on ICE.

Does Saline County show mugshots online?

Yes. Current Saline mugshots are shown in the Saline County jail roster with charges. If the photo is missing, ask the Saline jail.

If a photo isn't posted, news outlets may phone the sheriff's office, 501-303-5609, and ask. Federal mugshots stay private, even for reporters. The Marshals Service, which handles them, gives out one only in rare cases: for a wanted fugitive, if it's needed right away to protect the public, or to aid the search or alert the community. For an image taken after ICE booked them, the only route is ICE's FOIA form; the agency may say no.
