The Saline County Sheriff’s Office runs it at 735 South Neeley Street, Benton, AR 72015, and the jail can be reached around the clock at (501) 303-5642. It holds men and women arrested by sheriff’s deputies and by city police departments in the county, most of them waiting for their cases to move through court, along with people serving time after a conviction. In February 2026 the county unveiled two new housing pods, a larger kitchen and a redesigned recreation yard, adding 82 beds and bringing the jail to 316 beds.
To find out whether someone is being held, start with the sheriff’s inmate roster on the Saline County website. If the person isn’t showing yet, booking may still be underway; call the jail for an update. After booking, a person who stays in custody must be brought before a judge without unnecessary delay, generally within 48 hours of arrest under Arkansas Rule of Criminal Procedure 8.1. You can follow the case afterward on the Arkansas Judiciary’s court records site, Search ARCourts.
Arkansas’s constitution says everyone is bailable before conviction except in capital cases where the proof is evident or the presumption great. Under Rules 9.1 and 9.2 of the Arkansas Rules of Criminal Procedure, the judge first looks at release on the person’s own recognizance or with conditions, and sets money bail only when nothing else will reasonably make sure the person returns to court. If you use a bail bond company, state law (Ark. Code §17-19-301) sets the premium at 10% of the bond, rounded up to the nearest $5, paid in full before release, plus small nonrefundable state fees. The sheriff’s office at 735 S. Neeley St. takes bonds, fines and court-ordered fees Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It accepts cash, money orders and cashier’s checks for the exact amount, made out to SCSO. There is no face-to-face visiting at the Saline County jail. All mail has to come through the U.S. Postal Service. You can’t drop off letters or notes at the jail.

Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.
Books
Most jails allow books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address above.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Saline County Detention Center standards will be disposed of.
