San Francisco County Juvenile Hall

With 150 beds, the San Francisco Juvenile Hall houses youth who have been arrested and assigned to the facility by the court. Since the Division of Juvenile Justice closed, the youth who would have been committed to that facility are also being housed at the Juvenile Hall. Youth in the facility who are 19 years old or younger will attend the Woodside Learning Center that is within the juvenile hall and operated by the Unified School District. They offer academic enrichment, special education, arts, college counseling, tutoring, and there is a garden provided as part of the outdoor classroom. Any who are over 18 or who have already graduated from high school there are online college courses or vocational training provided. Additional services and programs include all medical care, dental care, behavioral health services to address mental health and any substance abuse that may be present, as well as health education. Yoga, critical thinking, literacy, development tools, self-expression, and building healthy relationships are all also taught through addiction optional programs. College supports are avaialbe for help registering and choosing classes, basketball and musical performances may be engaged with. Visiting: Virtual visits are available each day and can be scheduled at 415-753-7500, while in person visits occur on Saturdays and Sundays and do not require appointments, but approved visitors must contact the number above to obtain the schedule.
