People held in jail are arraigned at 1:30 p.m. in the Fairfield courthouses. Department 6 hears them on Mondays, Department 4 on Tuesdays, and Department 21 in the Hall of Justice, 600 Union Avenue, from Wednesday to Friday. People who got out on bond are called in the morning at the Law and Justice Center, 530 Union Avenue, or the Solano Justice Building, 321 Tuolumne Street, Vallejo. Solano judges publish a 2026 schedule built around the possible sentence. The court's bail page lists the figures below. Judges can change them for one person.

Misdemeanors by maximum jail term: 90 days, $1,600; 180 days, $5,000; one year, $7,500. DUI: first offense $5,000, second $7,500, third $15,000. Felonies by top prison term: 3 years, $25,000; 5 years, $45,000; 10 years, $105,000, with $15,000 more for every extra year. Life, $750,000. For murder, the schedule leaves bail for a judge to set. A violation of felony probation has no bail; misdemeanor probation, $15,000.

Before a judge sees him, the court says the bail is the amount written on the warrant if one was issued, and the schedule amount if not. The Solano judge fixes it at arraignment and may go above or below the schedule. The schedule has a rule for several charges. Charges from the same course of conduct are bailed at the highest single amount. Separate acts that can be punished separately are generally added up. A high total is a good reason to talk to a lawyer about a hearing.

Judges must. Since the 2026 Kowalczyk decision, a Solano judge has to factor in a person's finances and think about release without cash first. Penal Code 1270.1 keeps a hearing requirement in place for serious or violent felonies and some domestic violence arrests. Ask a defender or lawyer to request one.

State insurance officials put the normal agent charge at ten percent, and a few agents hand some back. It is never returned. Get a signed sheet from the agent listing the charge, what you're pledging and what a missed date costs.

Article I, section 12 of the state constitution limits no-bail holds in Fairfield and Vallejo to three groups: death-eligible crimes; violent or sex felonies with strong evidence and a likely danger of great bodily harm; and felonies involving threats of great harm the person seems ready to carry out. On the local schedule, murder and felony probation violations carry no bail until a judge decides. Another county's warrant or hold keeps him in Fairfield, too.

The judge can forfeit the bond. Penal Code 1305 then gives the bail agent, or whoever paid, 180 days and five mailing days to return him to a Solano courtroom. Call the court and a lawyer right away.
