10. What happens after a federal arrest near Marysville?

It usually begins when groups such as Homeland Security Investigations, the ATF, and the Postal Inspection Service carry out an arrest. The county belongs to the Eastern District of California's Sacramento Division; cases are set in Sacramento, 501 I Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. Clerk's phone: 916-930-4000. The first appearance happens quickly, before a federal magistrate. Ahead of court, pretrial services checks ties to the public and prior record. Release is not a set amount in federal court. Using federal bail law, the magistrate holds a detention hearing and decides if they stay locked up.

During the case, the Marshals usually house federal prisoners in local jails. Start with the county roster. The U.S. Marshals office that serves this area is at 501 I Street, Suite 5600, Sacramento, CA 95814. Dial 916-930-2030 to find someone in federal custody. Those given federal prison time leave the jail here to a Bureau of Prisons site later. Locate their facility with the federal locator.

11. What does an ICE detainer mean for us?

  • Booking prints are run through national systems that ICE can see. When ICE thinks your loved one may be deportable, it can send a hold request.
  • The Marysville jail is asked to keep the inmate on ICE's behalf up to 48 hours after they would otherwise be released (8 CFR 287.7(d)). Marysville's jail works under SB 54, California's Values Act, releasing the person on the local timeline, with ICE getting custody just through a judge's warrant or a serious felony listed in state law.
  • Paying bond does not cancel the hold.
  • Officers from ICE may pick them up at the Marysville jail before time runs out. If ICE stays away, this means release on the local case.
  • The last stop is ICE's call.
  • Check the ICE online locator using their alien number (A-number) plus birth country. Can't find the person's A-number? Use their full name, date of birth, and country of birth instead.
  • To reach ICE in San Francisco at 630 Sansome Street, Room 590, San Francisco, CA 94111, tel. 415-365-8800.

12. What happens after a state prison sentence?

Prison sentences are carried out by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. They often wait in the county jail until the CDCR picks them up, and that may take weeks. The ride ends at reception, where new arrivals get checked in. At intake, officers review medical and mental care, security risk and any gang affiliation. The next stop is a facility that suits those findings.

The CDCR online lookup lists their unit after intake. Our state prison page covers every state unit.

13. Can I get Yuba County mugshots?

The Yuba inmate lookup lists people held in Yuba, but it does not show mugshots.

California's rule is Section 13665. It is about social media only. It applies to most nonviolent arrests. Agencies may not post those photos there. Posts must come down within 14 days. A judge can also allow a post. The sheriff's own website isn't covered. Still, most California rosters show no photos.

For an immigration mugshot, send an ICE public records request. ICE has to approve it. Media seeking a mugshot not shown online can contact sheriff's staff at 530-749-7777. Federal booking photos are kept private. Rarely, the federal Marshals Service releases one: for a wanted person, to help a search or to alert the community, or when there's an immediate safety need.

14. Which agency arrested them in Yuba County?

Wheatland has a small police force; Linda and Olivehurst are patrolled by the Sheriff.

Back to questions ↑

15. Is an Olivehurst warrant arrest booked on Fifth Street?

Yes. Olivehurst, Linda and Wheatland arrests go to the Fifth Street jail, which shares a building with the courthouse, and jail staff can tell callers who's there. Sheriff's deputies take warrant calls, statewide ones included. The Superior Court keeps a case access page where the case itself can be found. Wheatland families can also ask the clerk when the next hearing falls. If you're wanted, hire a local lawyer to arrange surrender, or phone the Suite 200 clerk (530-740-1800) about a new hearing.
