⇓ Learn more ⇓ Show lessThe Eagle County Detention Facility houses all of the arrested offenders, both on misdemeanors and felonies, throughout Eagle County and detains them until their trial as well as those who are committed to custody for a set period of time. All levels of security are provided so inmates are housed in the correct security level and further considering past charges, past attempts of escape, and current charges.
Minimum, medium, and maximum security provide appropriate security protections, with several of the housing units being dormitory style and the entirety of the jail using direct supervision with officers directly within the units. Dormitory housing allows for freedom of movement throughout the unit at many points of the day and inmates will have time to interact and socialize, as well as providing additional space for walking around or exercising.
Inmates may engage in AA, yoga, CMC Connect to gain college classes, GED tests, and behavioral health programming. Each program is designed to provide increased opportunities for inmates after incarceration and to reduce the rates of recidivism.
While there is no work release, there is a trustee program that allows inmates to work within the Eagle County Detention Facility to earn time off of their sentence or good behavior.
Inmates are able to have visitors by video every day of the week with one visit of 20 minutes every 48 hours being free, and they are accessible 7:30am-11:00am, 1:30pm-4:30pm, and 7:30pm-11:00pm. While incoming calls are not accepted, inmates are able to make collect calls or to make outgoing calls through a prepaid account.
To provide additional funds to an inmate for commissary or other needs it can be sent online or deposited at the kiosk that is found within the lobby.
