Nestled in a grove of trees next to the public works building, the 184-bed Taylor County Jail is a large campus with several buildings surrounded by high fencing and a fenced recreation yard. The building also houses the Taylor County communications for all dispatch and emergency calls. The parking lot is large and well lit, providing safe barking for visitors and staff.
Both male and female offenders are housed here, for either felony or misdemeanor charges, and they are present here as they wait for their trial, as they wait for their sentence, and while serving a sentence for Taylor County.
The Taylor County Jail is run by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office in Perry. Map listings place it on US 27 at 589 US 27, Perry, FL 32347. The jail answers questions at (850) 584-4333, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The sheriff’s administrative office is at 108 N Jefferson St, Suite 103, and can be reached at (850) 584-4225. The jail houses Taylor County’s pretrial detainees and people serving county sentences of a year or less.
All visits are by video. The sheriff’s office has ended in-person visiting at the jail. Securus runs the system ((800) 844-6591), and you can visit from home or use one of the two kiosks in the jail lobby if you don’t have a computer. Securus also handles inmate phone calls. Letters without a return name and address are not processed, and nothing larger than 8.5 by 11 inches is accepted. Photos and drawings are scanned, but packages and magazines are refused.
