Taylor County Jail Inmate Search
Under the Florida Constitution, most people charged with a crime in Taylor County and across the state are entitled to pretrial release on reasonable conditions. The exceptions are capital and life felonies when the proof is evident or the presumption is great, and cases where no conditions would protect the community. For everything else, the Florida Supreme Court sets a uniform statewide bond schedule listing a minimum bond amount for each type of offense.

Keep in mind that the local judicial circuit may require more, and the judge at first appearance can raise or lower the amount. Though licensed for 184 inmates, the Taylor County Jail often has to house many more offenders, especially on weekends. Most city and county jails in Florida have a monthly turnover of at least 35-40%, with another 25-30% turning over every 90 days, another 15-20% every six months, and about 8-9% staying six to twelve months. Inmates who stay longer than twelve months are usually facing serious charges such as rape or murder. Because those cases take time to prepare for trial, offenders arrested in this county are held in one of the Taylor County facilities much longer.

The building also houses the Taylor County communications for all dispatch and emergency calls. The parking lot is large and well lit, providing safe barking for visitors and staff.
Both male and female offenders are housed here, for either felony or misdemeanor charges, and they are present here as they wait for their trial, as they wait for their sentence, and while serving a sentence for Taylor County.
The Taylor County Jail is run by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office in Perry. Map listings place it on US 27 at 589 US 27, Perry, FL 32347. The jail answers questions at (850) 584-4333, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The sheriff’s administrative office is at 108 N Jefferson St, Suite 103, and can be reached at (850) 584-4225. The jail houses Taylor County’s pretrial detainees and people serving county sentences of a year or less.
All visits are by video. The sheriff’s office has ended in-person visiting at the jail. Securus runs the system ((800) 844-6591), and you can visit from home or use one of the two kiosks in the jail lobby if you don’t have a computer. Securus also handles inmate phone calls. The canteen is run by Stewart, and deposits are made through commissarydeposit.com. The sheriff doesn’t post video visit prices or hours; Securus shows them when you schedule.
Personal mail is scanned and delivered electronically. Send it to Taylor County Jail, the inmate’s legal name and ID number, PO Box 1759, Waycross, GA 31502. Letters without a return name and address are not processed, and nothing larger than 8.5 by 11 inches is accepted. Photos and drawings are scanned, but packages and magazines are refused. Anyone booked into the jail who isn’t released sees a judge within 24 hours. Taylor County is in the Third Judicial Circuit. Under the Florida Constitution, most people can be released before trial on reasonable conditions. The exceptions are capital or life felonies where the proof is evident, and cases where no condition can protect the public. The Florida Supreme Court’s 2026 bond schedule sets minimums for release before first appearance. Local judges can raise them, the first appearance judge can depart from them, and some charges require a judge’s review first. Minor misdemeanors often end with a notice to appear. Bond payment details aren’t posted, so call the jail. Licensed bail agents charge a 10% premium, the rate set by Florida regulators.
