Madison County Jail Inmate Search
Florida law entitles most people arrested in Madison County to reasonable pretrial release, unless they are charged with a capital or life felony and the proof is evident, or a judge finds no conditions would protect the public. Lower-level misdemeanors and traffic cases are often handled with a notice to appear. Bond amounts for most other charges come from a uniform statewide bond schedule set by the Florida Supreme Court.

The Madison County Jail is licensed to house 100 inmates, but it is often forced to hold many more, especially on weekends. Most city and county jails in Florida turn over at least 35-40% of their inmates per month, another 25-30% every 90 days, and another 15-20% every six months, with approximately 8-9% incarcerated six to twelve months. Inmates held longer than twelve months are usually facing serious charges such as rape or murder. Because those cases take longer to prepare for trial, offenders arrested in this county remain in one of the Madison County facilities much longer.

The Madison County Jail is at 823 SW Pinckney Street, Madison, FL 32340, and is run by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office through a Jail Administrator. The jail administration number is (850) 973-4002. The sheriff’s headquarters is a separate building at 2364 West US 90, reachable at (850) 973-4151. The jail holds adults from Madison County who are awaiting trial or serving county sentences of up to a year. People sentenced to state prison are moved to the Florida Department of Corrections.
Booking here includes a property inventory (any cash is deposited to the person’s account), a medical screening, and fingerprints and photos. The sheriff’s office notes that anyone arrested sees a judge within 24 hours, and that’s where charges are read and bond is decided. Madison County is in the Third Judicial Circuit. Florida’s Constitution gives most defendants a right to reasonable pretrial release. It excludes capital and life felonies when the proof is evident, and cases where no condition protects the public. Before first appearance, jail staff use the Florida Supreme Court’s 2026 statewide bond schedule. The circuit can set higher amounts, the judge isn’t bound by it, and certain charges must go before a judge first. Minor misdemeanors are often cited with a notice to appear. Canteen orders go in Sunday night and arrive by mid-week. Inmates can’t receive calls. They can place collect or prepaid calls through Securus ((800) 844-6591) between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Letters are delivered Monday through Friday, and all non-legal mail is opened and inspected. Packages aren’t allowed except legal materials.
The sheriff’s warrants clerk answers questions weekdays at (850) 253-3345. There’s no online county warrant search, but the FDLE wanted persons list is searchable statewide, though it isn’t complete. No fixed-route transit serves Madison, so visitors generally drive. The Shell at 363 E Base St and Madison Marathon at 1407 US 90 sell fuel. Burger King (363 E Base St, Suite B) and Frank’s Fry House & Market (218 SW Jackson Ave) are quick places to eat.

Bring money to the jail in person.

Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online

Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.
Books
