Most city and county jails in Florida turn over at least 35-40% of inmates monthly, 25-30% more every 90 days, and 15-20% more every six months, with roughly 8-9% remaining six to twelve months. Stays of more than a year are usually tied to serious charges like rape or murder. Those cases take longer to prepare for trial, so offenders arrested in this county remain at one of the Marion County facilities much longer.
