About the DeKalb County Jail

Housing an average of 134 inmates at any time, both male and female, the DeKalb County Jail houses both those waiting for trial or serving a short sentence under a year in length for DeKalb County. It is operated under the responsibility of the Sheriff’s Office and provides for all of the needs and treatments of all inmates throughout their incarceration.

Staff can be reached by phone at 260-925-3365 with any concerns about an inmate or their health and to provide basic updates on their status. An online database is also kept and updated regularly to ensure that friends or family are able to check their status any time.

The DeKalb County Jail can accept bail payments only through the lobby kiosk or other kiosks found in the state.

This location also uses tablets to encourage inmates to remain in contact with their outside support system including family, friends, attorneys, and other representatives. Tablets also allow access to books, messages, music, email, and more, and can be funded by their friends and family online with the same site as they will use to send and receive messages.

Commissary accounts are also available and can be funded online or at the kiosk as well, providing access to both add money and order commissary items.

Two visits onsite are provided each week, and there are no limits on the number of remote visits that can be accessed each week. Onsite visits are at the kiosk in the lobby, and remote visits require an internet connected device.

Each visit is 30 minutes and can be scheduled at least twelve hours before the visit is to begin, with onsite hours being Tuesday – Thursday 8am-11am, 12:30pm-2pm, and 3pm to 8pm. Remote visits are Tuesday – Saturday 8am-11am, 12:30pm-2pm, and 3pm-19pm with weekend visits being 8am-11am and 12:30am-2pm both days.
