Sending Letters to the Buchanan County Jail
Use this four-line format for an inmate in Independence:
Inmate's full name
Buchanan County Jail
210 5th Ave NE
Independence, IA 50644
That street address serves the sheriff's office and the Correctional Center alike, and Reliance's record for the facility uses it too. A complete return address on the envelope lets an undeliverable letter find its way back to you.
Photographs, cards and books fall under the Correctional Center's own rules, so phone 319-334-2017 before mailing them. Visiting and VINE information sits on the sheriff's Correctional Division page.
