Youth who are placed on a detention order within Scott County and the surrounding counties will be held at the Scott County Juvenile Detention Center. Along with Scott County, the facility serves Jackson County, Clinton County, Cedar County, and Muscatine County. The juveniles from these communities that are housed within the area will all receive the same services and care while they are residing there. All meals are created to be nutritionally balanced and to meet the needs of each resident, and exercise and physical education are part of the regular curriculum. School days each have regular school hours will a full academic program, and additional learning opportunities are offered to improve life skills and practice social skills. Full medical care is provided, and treatments and therapies are provided for any mental health needs. Each of the juveniles are provided with a program created to address their needs and rehabilitation goals, allowing them to attend programs and classes that will provide the most for them, and receive the treatments and services that they need. Mail must be delivered through the postal service and cannot be hand delivered, must have a full address and a complete return address for the sender. Adult content and illegal items are not permitted and will be removed. Phones: Phones are available every day, with longer hours on weekends. Calls can be made during the hours of 12pm-8:30pm on weekends and during the same hours but with breaks at 1:15pm-2:45pm for lunch during the week. Visitation: Visits are also available for immediate family only and must be booked in advance to occur during the weekends 12pm to 8:30pm or during the week 12:15-1:15pm or 2:45-8:30pm.
