As the juvenile detention facility for the Jefferson Parish in Louisiana, the L. Robers Rivarde Memorial Home falls under the operational supervision of the Department of Juveniles Services. Beneath the umbrella of that department also fall other social services, juveniles support, family support, diversion programs and alternatives to detention, and much more. Within the facility there are 52 beds for juveniles who are determined to require detention for safety, to ensure they attend court dates, due to an arrest on a warrant or probation violation or held until transfer to another location. Both pretrial and adjudicated juveniles are held here, and they will receive full services including meals, intake and assessment, visitation in visiting rooms, counseling, classrooms and teachers for their general education, a full library, computer lab, medical evaluation, drug prevention and treatment, and recreation in both indoor and outdoor spaces. It is a high security area that serves all the youth who are requiring detention regardless of the types of charges they are facing, though charges may determine which housing section they are located within. Safety and security are top concerns for the staff as they keep all the juveniles safe, engaged, and supported. Visitation: Visitation hours are provided to the immediate family of juveniles, as they will work around the schedules of each of the housing units and the individual juvenile.
