Lafourche Parish Juvenile Detention Center Inmate Search
Lafourche Parish Inmate Search and Mugshots, Thibodaux
To find out whether someone is in jail in Lafourche Parish, search the sheriff's free inmate roster, which lists people held at the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex, 2594 Veterans Boulevard, Thibodaux, LA 70301, and can be sorted by custody status or by the agency holding them. When we checked it in October 2026 the roster showed names, charges and booking dates, but no mugshots; booking photos are requested from the sheriff instead.
The complex answers at 985-449-4458 around the clock.
Read on for roster tips, bonding at Thibodaux or Cut Off, property pickup, the 17th district courthouse, holds placed by the U.S. Marshals or ICE, and a phone list that covers each Lafourche police force.
1. Where is the Lafourche Parish jail, and how do I call it?
The sheriff opened the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in January 2019, replacing the old detention center, which is now closed. Older directories may still show the former address, so use these: - Correctional Complex: 2594 Veterans Boulevard, Thibodaux, LA 70301, 985-449-4458. - Sheriff's administrative office: 104-A Canal Boulevard, Thibodaux, LA 70301 (mail P.O. Box 5608, Thibodaux, LA 70302), non-emergency 985-448-2111. - South Lafourche Sub-Station: 102 W. 91st Street, Cut Off, LA 70345, 985-632-5843, where people arrested along the lower bayou are often processed first. - Transitional Work Program: 1156 Highway 90 East, Raceland, LA 70394, 985-537-9650.
The complex is the long-term jail for the whole parish, Thibodaux, Lockport and Golden Meadow. It also holds people arrested by the Port Fourchon Harbor Police, state troopers and federal agencies.
↑ Back to the question list2. How do I search the Lafourche roster?
- Open the sheriff's inmate roster.
- Enter a surname, adding a given name when too many matches come up.
- Set the custody filter to people currently held; otherwise released bookings stay mixed in with current ones.
- Open the entry to read the charges, the arresting agency and the booking date.
- Copy the full legal name and booking number exactly as shown. Deposits, mail and bond paperwork all ask for them.
The sheriff also posts an active warrant list from the same corrections page at lpso.net.
↑ Back to the question list3. Can I see Lafourche Parish mugshots?
The online roster doesn't show them. Booking photo requests go to Lafourche deputies at 985-448-2111 or send a public records request to the Canal Boulevard office. Louisiana's Act 281 has allowed agencies to release booking photos before conviction since August 1, 2024. If a pay-to-remove website has posted a Lafourche photo, it owes a free takedown inside 7 days after a dismissal, an acquittal, an expungement or a pardon. For a person held by immigration authorities, use ICE's records request page. The U.S. Marshals treat federal booking photos as private records. Thibodaux-area news outlets sometimes publish booking photos, and the Lafourche sheriff decides which ones to give them.
↑ Back to the question list4. They were just arrested but are not on the roster. What now?
Intake takes time after an arrest. Prints, a booking picture, a health screening and a records search all happen before the name posts, so give it an hour or two, then ring the complex at 985-449-4458 with the legal name and birthday. Staff can tell you whether booking is still under way, whether bond has already been posted, or whether the person was taken to a hospital first. Someone arrested in Galliano, Larose or Cut Off may still be at the South Lafourche Sub-Station before transport.
Arrests just across the parish line go to the neighbors' jails: - Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex in Houma, for arrests in Schriever, Gray or Houma. - Assumption Parish Detention Center in Napoleonville, for arrests up the bayou past Labadieville. - St. Charles and Jefferson parish jails for arrests near Des Allemands and Lafitte.
↑ Back to the question list5. Why is my relative listed at Raceland instead of Thibodaux?
The Transitional Work Program on Highway 90 East in Raceland houses state prisoners close to their release date. It runs under an agreement with the Louisiana Department of Corrections and is accredited by the American Correctional Association. Participants earn wages at outside jobs such as shipyards or offshore work and can take GED, Bible study, substance-abuse and offshore-safety classes. The state screens every placement, so a person cannot simply ask to be moved there. Call 985-537-9650 about someone in the program.
↑ Back to the question list6. Could the officer have issued a summons instead of booking them?
Yes. For many misdemeanors and traffic offenses inside Thibodaux, officers write a summons to Thibodaux City Court rather than book the person. That person never shows up on the roster, yet still has to appear in court when the summons says. - Thibodaux City Court: Stark Municipal Complex, 1309 Canal Boulevard, 2nd floor, Thibodaux, LA 70301, 985-446-7238, weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Missing that date usually leads to a warrant and a later trip to Veterans Boulevard.
↑ Back to the question list7. How soon will a judge see them?
Under Louisiana's Article 230.1, anyone held at the complex goes before a judge inside 72 hours of arrest; weekends and legal holidays are skipped in that count. In Lafourche a 17th Judicial District judge reviews the charges, sets or changes bail and assigns defenders when the arrested person lacks money for one. Should the deadline slip by, Lafourche must free the person on a signature.
↑ Back to the question list8. Where can I see the Lafourche bond amount?
The roster may list a bond next to each charge. A blank amount usually means a judge has not set bail yet, the charge is one that requires a judge's review, or another agency has placed a hold. Call the complex at 985-449-4458 and ask what the bond totals across all charges, plus whether a hold from another agency would keep the person in Thibodaux after it is paid. Our Lafourche bail guide explains how bail is set and what bondsmen may charge.
↑ Back to the question list9. What kinds of bond does the sheriff accept?
The sheriff's bonding office lists five ways to post bond, at either the Correctional Complex or the South Lafourche Sub-Station: - Cash bond: the full amount, paid in cash, money order or credit card. After the case ends the money is returned less a $30 bond fee and any fines and costs. - Surety bond: a licensed bail agent posts an insurance power. The sheriff recommends no company and takes no part in the fee you pay the agent, which Louisiana caps at 12 percent. - Property bond: land used as collateral. The assessor and Clerk of Court in the parish where the land sits must certify it, the assessed value is multiplied by 10 and liens are subtracted, and every owner must come with photo ID. - Personal recognizance: a signature bond that only a judge can order. - Fines and costs: a judge may allow release on payment of fines and court costs, most often on contempt or child-support matters. These can also be paid at the sheriff's administrative office in Thibodaux.
↑ Back to the question list10. Where are court records and cash bond refunds handled?
The Lafourche Parish Clerk of Court keeps criminal records and bond paperwork at the courthouse, 303 W. Third Street, Thibodaux, LA 70301 (mail P.O. Box 818, Thibodaux, LA 70302-0818), 985-447-4841. The criminal division can give the docket number, upcoming court dates and where a cash bond refund stands. Have the person's legal name and birthday handy.
↑ Back to the question list11. Which court will hear the case?
Felonies and most state misdemeanors from Lafourche go to the 17th Judicial District Court in the parish courthouse on W. Third Street. The district attorney's office answers at 985-447-2003 (mail P.O. Box 431, Thibodaux, LA 70302-0431). City offenses stay in Thibodaux City Court on Canal Boulevard. Our Lafourche court guide walks through arraignment, hearings and trial.
↑ Back to the question list12. Who represents a Lafourche defendant who cannot pay?
Say so to the judge at the 72-hour hearing that you cannot pay; the court then appoints the district's defenders. That office for the 17th district is at 204 Green Street, Thibodaux, LA 70301, 985-446-8808. Every jail call is recorded; details of the case belong in a private talk with the defender.
↑ Back to the question list13. My relative needs medication. Who do I tell?
Call the complex at 985-449-4458 and ask for the medical unit. Tell the Thibodaux unit each medicine and dose, the prescribing doctor and the pharmacy that fills it. Jail medical staff decide what will be given. If you believe the person may hurt themselves, say so right away.
↑ Back to the question list14. How do visits work at the Correctional Complex?
Video visits are offered, and in-person visits follow these sheriff rules: - Call 985-449-4458 for the current visiting days and hours. - Each person gets one 15-minute visit; up to two visitors must come together. - Your name must be on that person's visitor list, and you need valid photo ID. - Visitors must be at least 17 unless approved; children come only on special visits set up by the administration. - Anyone recently released from jail must wait 120 days before visiting. - No shorts, short skirts, sleeveless or tank tops, low-cut or see-through clothing, or sagging pants. - You may not hand over packages.
Our visiting guide covers scheduling a video visit.
↑ Back to the question list15. How do I send money, set up calls or order commissary?
Visitors may bring cash or a money order for a person's account, and that can be dropped off outside visiting hours too. Online deposits and commissary orders are linked from the sheriff's corrections page. Our guides cover each step: - Putting money on an account - Phone calls from the jail - Messages and tablets
Always use the full legal name and booking number.
↑ Back to the question list16. What address do letters to the Thibodaux jail use?
Address the envelope to the person's full legal name at 2594 Veterans Blvd., Thibodaux, LA 70301, with the sender's name and return address printed in the corner; the sheriff rejects mail without them. Letters and money orders may be mailed; cash and packages may not. See our mail guide for what else gets rejected.
↑ Back to the question list17. How do I pick up their property?
Except for clothing and ID, belongings taken at booking must be released within 72 hours of the arrest. The person in custody can name someone to pick them up, or have them mailed home at their own expense. Property is released on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; call 985-449-4458 before you drive over.
↑ Back to the question list18. After bond posts, how soon do they walk out?
Plan on a few hours. Deputies look for holds or warrants from other agencies, finish the court paperwork and hand back property before the doors open. Ask the complex for an estimate, and plan a ride, since Veterans Boulevard is on the edge of Thibodaux.
↑ Back to the question list19. Where do people with state sentences go?
Someone sentenced to Department of Corrections time may stay at the complex until DOC transfers them to a reception center for classification, or may later be placed at the Raceland work program. The state's offender locator line is 225-383-4580. See Louisiana state prisons for each facility.
↑ Back to the question list20. Does someone have an open Lafourche warrant?
Call the sheriff at 985-448-2111 to find out. A city warrant is the business of Thibodaux Police at 985-446-5021. Don't count on finding it online, because there's no reliable posted list and no public statewide search in Louisiana. Anyone planning to turn themselves in at Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex should talk to a lawyer and line up bond first; that usually means a shorter stay. When a skipped Thibodaux hearing caused it, the clerk's office at 303 W. Third Street, 985-447-4841, can explain getting a new date.
↑ Back to the question list21. How are teenagers charged in Thibodaux?
Children under 17 go to the Lafourche Parish Juvenile Detention Center, 2525 Veterans Blvd., Thibodaux, LA 70301, 985-448-1436, a short walk from the adult complex. A juvenile judge then rules on detention versus release to a parent. Since April 19, 2024, 17-year-olds are charged as adults in Louisiana and are booked at the complex.
↑ Back to the question list22. What if the FBI, DEA or another federal agency arrested them?
Federal cases from Lafourche go to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana in New Orleans. The clerk is at 500 Poydras Street, Room C151, New Orleans, LA 70130, 504-589-7600. A New Orleans magistrate judge conducts the opening federal hearing, weighs a pretrial services interview, and applies the Bail Reform Act, 18 U.S.C. 3142, to choose between release and detention. The U.S. Marshals office is in Suite 724 of the same building, 504-589-6079; it may board federal defendants at the Thibodaux complex. Once a federal sentence begins, search the BOP inmate locator.
↑ Back to the question list23. What does an ICE detainer mean in Lafourche?
- Prints from the Thibodaux booking are checked against Homeland Security records, which is how ICE learns of an arrest and files a detainer.
- Posting the Lafourche bond does not cancel that detainer.
- Complex staff may keep someone as long as 48 extra hours after normal release so that ICE agents can collect them.
- Once that window closes with no pickup, the detainer expires.
- Louisiana's Act 314 of 2024 directs local agencies to cooperate with detainers.
The ICE detainee locator works from an A-number plus birth country; without one, enter the name, the birthday and the birth country. The New Orleans Field Office is at 181 James Drive W, St. Rose, LA 70087; ICE's detention information line is 888-351-4024.
↑ Back to the question list24. Can I get a text when they are released or moved?
Yes. Register with LA VINE, the statewide notification service, to be told by phone, text or email. It is free, and it also shows which facility is holding a person.
↑ Back to the question list25. How do I avoid bond scams?
Pay bond only at the Correctional Complex, the Cut Off sub-station, the Clerk of Court or a licensed bail agent you chose yourself. Lafourche bond offices never take gift cards or payment apps, so any caller demanding them to free your relative is lying. End the call, then phone the complex at 985-449-4458.
↑ Back to the question list26. Which police agency in Lafourche Parish made the arrest?
Check the arrest paperwork or the roster entry for the arresting agency, then call: - Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office: Raceland, Larose, Cut Off, Galliano, Mathews, Chackbay and every unincorporated area, 985-448-2111, or dispatch at 985-798-2255. - Thibodaux Police: 1309 Canal Boulevard, Thibodaux, LA 70301, 985-446-5021. - Lockport Police: 710 Church Street, Lockport, LA 70374, 985-532-9799, or dispatch at 985-532-4200. - Golden Meadow Police: 107 Jervis Drive, Golden Meadow, LA 70357, 985-475-5213. - Nicholls State University Police: campus office in Thibodaux, non-emergency 985-448-4746. - Port Fourchon Harbor Police: Greater Lafourche Port Commission, 180 A.O. Rappelet Road, Port Fourchon, LA 70357, 985-396-3911. They also patrol the South Lafourche airport. - Louisiana State Police Troop C: 4047 West Park Avenue, Gray, LA 70359, 985-857-3680, for highway arrests.
All of them bring state prisoners to the complex on Veterans Boulevard. In an emergency, dial 911.
