Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center

Opened in 2003, the Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center is located directly in Baltimore City and is the full facility that includes all juvenile services including the circuit court rooms, master hearing rooms, attorneys' offices, law enforcement, social services, and Department of Juvenile Services where intake and assessments are completed. It also includes a secure detention center for male juveniles who are being held on the order of the court or on behalf of law enforcement to await their first court date or detention hearing. The facility for detention has housing units, meals, education services, counseling, recreation spaces, and provides both mental and dental care. Schooling is provided based upon the local schools during the same school hours around the year, allowing for juveniles to catch up over the summer months if they fall behind their original school. Staff work to encourage healthy and positive social interactions, to keep students and residents engaged in activities, balance mental, physical, and emotional health, and assist the juveniles in learning new skills that will help them both in and out of the facility. Visitation: Visits are permitted for both in person and virtual visits, and “significant persons” are permitted to visit, which includes anyone who is involved significantly in the youth’s life. Parents, coaches, mentors, teachers, and family members are all permitted visits but must schedule them the day before by contacting the facility at 443-263-8998.
