About the McKinley Adult Detention Center
This adult facility is located in Gallup, NM and houses all of the inmates for not only their own county but also has contracts with surrounding counties, Tribal agencies, federal agencies, and state law enforcement. These contracts allow for both parties to benefit from the facility and assist in funding it without carrying the full burden. Operating under the Jail Authority Board, it is overseen by both the McKinley County and the City Government Officials. With beds for 328 inmates, it is the main housing facility in the area and accommodates both male and female inmates. The facility is intended to provide safe and secure housing for inmates regardless of their charges, and to ensure the environment is safe for staff as well. Some of the ways this is achieved is through access to contact with their families, ensuring there is a balanced diet supplied, and encouraging recreational time and exercise. The community may also access fingerprinting services as well as background checks for employment of volunteer opportunities, by contacting the office during business hours at 505-979-7224 and booking for Tuesday or Thursday from 9am to 4pm. Inmates are permitted to make phone calls to friends and family and will have access to visits on weekdays, however visits will not begin until after the inmate has been in custody for 72 hours. Inmate Money Accounts

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the McKinley Adult Detention Center?

There are FOUR options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person.
Either the jail personnel will process the Inmate Account payment or you will use a Jail ATM self-serve kiosk in the lobbies that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.

Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
McKinley Adult Detention Center uses Jail ATM to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Option 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail
Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union. Call the McKinley Adult Detention Center first as they may want you to do this online or at the jail kiosk instead.
Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.
255 S. Boardman
Gallup, NM 87301

Option 4 - Make an Inmate Deposit with Jail ATM over the Phone by calling 877-810-0914
To do this you will need the inmate's offender # (inmate ID #) and full legal name.
