About the Multi-County Correctional Center

The sprawling building that houses the Multi-County Correctional Center is located in Marion, Ohio. It is a joint facility that houses people who are arrested throughout both Marion County and Hardin County, and is located on the outskirts of town. Arresting agencies include the Marion County Sheriff’s Specialty, Marion City Police Office, the Hardin County Sheriff's Office and the Ohio State Police. It can be easily accessed via highway, and the large plot of land accommodates outdoor activities and exercise for the inmates.

The building and correctional center was opened in 1999, and the capacity for inmates is over 220, providing the immediate detention needs of the local arresting officers. Inmates are held here until they have their first appearances or sentencing, and many will also serve their sentence in the facility. Arraignments can be done onsite via a video conference system that was installed.

A work release program provides an opportunity for approved inmates to work on projects with the county government, townships, and villages throughout the area. Those who ae able to be part of the work program will receive time off of their sentence for the work that they complete.

A medically assisted treatment program is also in place that helps treat any drug use or addiction and assists with developing life skills, along with providing mental health services for prevention, recovery support, and other needs.

Faith based programs are also provided for those who follow a religion.  All of the necessary services and requirements of mental, physical, and emotional health are met within the facility.

Families and friends can also support inmates they are connected to by providing funds to their commissary account, or corresponding by mail, accepting phone calls, or visiting.

Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Multi-County Correctional Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address above.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Multi-County Correctional Center standards will be disposed of. No more than three books may be shipped at any one time.
