Each inmate is processed and provided with either the amount of their bail or the day and time of their bail hearing. The original building was finished in 1988 and has begun to show its age. Full capacity for the facility is 38, making it a small holding facility that works well for those awaiting bail, people who are using the drunk tank to sober up, and people who are in the process of their trial. It has the capability of medium security, leading to violent offenders and those with extended services being transferred to larger jails and those that have maximum security cells. Anyone who is arrested in the area is taken to this facility to be booked and to have their bail hearing. Over 3,000 people are booked through the facility in an average year, with many being released quickly. If you are unsure if someone you know is incarcerated at the location, a phone call to the office or online look up will provide that information. Once having been processed and in their cell, inmates can begin to make outgoing phone calls to organize legal representation or contact loved ones. Visits can be booked but will be completed via video conferencing rather than face to face. This change has allowed visits to continue after the COVID outbreak began. Mail can be delivered to Washita County Jail, with the inmates name and booking number, 215 East 1st Streeet, Cordell, OK. Inmates can be provided with money for phone calls and necessary purchases through jailatm.com. Phone and video visitation is provided through citytelecoin.com which allows for inmates to call and video call during their free hours, with no set visitation schedule needed and no tlal visits must be planned in advance. The office hours are 8am to 4pm, and a kiosk is available in the lobby for use for visits as well as one for funding their accounts.
