INTERESTING FACTS about the DeKalb County Jail There are 104 beds, with an average daily population of 90 inmates. There are approximately 110 inmates on the weekends, due to weekenders serving time. There are 4 cells in the Main Jail, that was built in 1959. The Bull pen houses 18 inmates, the Maximum Security Cell house 6 inmates, and 2 cells in the basement area of the jail house a total of 22 inmates. The DeKalb Jail Annex was built in 2001 and has 2 cell areas. One cell is the Women’s Dorm houses 10 inmates. The Annex Dorm is the most populated cell in the facility. There are 48 beds in this area that house all male inmates. The Jail serves 3 meals (2 hot and 1 cold) each day. There is a full-time licensed nurse who visits once a day and an on-call Doctor. There is a ministry for those who wish to pursue spiritual counseling.

During COVID, in person visitation was halted for inmates throughout the country. It prompted facilities to make it a priority to upgrade their abilities to have video visitation. Many jails have restarted in person visitations. Call 615-597-4935 to confirm whether or not the DeKalb County Jail is offering in person visitation. If not, you will need to create an account for video visitation rights. It may be difficult to see your friend or loved ones while they are incarcerated, but it is important for their well-being.
