Visitor rules at the Atascosa County Jail
- Each registered Atascosa County visitor shows a photo ID at the Jourdanton lobby; age limits for young visitors come from jail staff.
- Leave every electronic device outside, including smart watches and smart glasses.
- Expect monitoring and recording. The jail screens scheduled visits against active protective orders and may run each visitor for warrants and bond conditions.
- Breaking a rule can mean a suspension, a permanent ban or criminal charges.
Dress code
No gang symbols or colors, no vulgar words or pictures, no halter tops, tank tops, undershirt-style T-shirts, fishnet or see-through fabric, and no tops that show the midriff. Anyone who appears drunk or high is turned away. The visitation supervisor has the final say. Both one-page sheets are linked from the Sheriff's page: rules and dress code.

Which days are for male inmates and which for female?
Men receive visitors Thursday and Sunday; women, Tuesday and Saturday. The two windows are 1–4 PM and 5–7 PM.
How long is a visit?
20 minutes.
How do I get on the visitation list?
Ask the inmate to add you, or call 830-769-3434 for the steps.
Can my children come?
Kids come only alongside a grown-up, and that adult's photo ID is checked; call the Atascosa County Jail for the youngest age allowed.
What if I have a warrant or a protective order?
Both are checked. An open warrant can lead to arrest, and a protective order between you and the inmate ends the visit before it starts.
May I keep my cell phone during the 20 minutes?
No; the rules sheet bans phones and other connected gadgets.
What happens if I break a rule?
You can be removed from the visit, suspended or banned for good, and charges can follow when the law applies.
