The counties of Grayson, Fannin, and Cooke are partners in the juvenile detention center that houses up to 30 juveniles who are aged 10 to 17 years old and are determined to require detention by law enforcement and are awaiting a detention hearing or those who have been referred by the court. Life skills programming is provided and will assist in developing necessary life skills, along with the opportunity to work on social skills. Services offered included crisis intervention, mental health assessments and treatment, group counseling, substance abuse assessment and treatment, individual counseling, and behavioral therapy. Skills development opportunities are presented, both for life skills and for social skills. Education is provided by the local public school board to maintain both standards and curriculum, allowing students to continue earning credits towards their diploma. There is an HIV/AIDS education group, substance abuse education to prevent substance abuse at any point in life, and non-denominational religious services. Youth are prepared for their transition back to the community near the end of their stay to provide the best chance of success for every youth that goes through the facility.
