About the Guadalupe Adult Detention Center

The Guadalupe Adult Detention Center, built in 2001 and has since undergone two expansions, is classified as a medium security jail that holds pre-trial misdemeanor and felony offenders and inmates that are serving sentences of one year or less. It is located at 2615 North Guadalupe Street in Seguin, TX. While they don't have a Jail Roster, you can look up former and current inmates and their court cases online. It helps if you also have their Booking Number, which you can get by calling Jail Records at the Sheriff's Office by calling 830-303-6342 .

Guadalupe County, geographically, is a very large county of 715 square miles, but has a population of just under 175,000 people. It is part of the San Antonio Metropolitane area.

The Guadalupe County Adult Detention Center is a detention facility with a capacity of 598 beds. It is staffed by 119 certified male and female corrections officers who are certified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). The jail receives an average of 8,000 inmates per year, with approximately 3,600 transferred to various courts. The facility serves around 1,800 hot meals daily.

Mail and correspondence, including inmate sick call requests and requests for information, are collected by unit officers. Outgoing mail is processed and delivered to U.S. Postal authorities, while incoming mail is processed and delivered to inmates from Monday to Friday (except on county holidays). Privileged mail, received from officials of the federal, state, and local courts, federal and state officials, bona fide news media, and an inmate's attorney, is opened in the presence of the inmate with inspection limited to finding contraband. Validity of specific mail may be verified by checking addresses.

Inmates have access to telephones in their living units between 7:00 am and 11:00 pm. Outgoing calls can be made on a collect call or pre-paid basis, with a maximum call duration of twenty (20) minutes. Incoming phone calls are not accepted for inmates, and messages are not delivered to them. Family members and friends of inmates have the option to set up prepay calling accounts through GTL's AdvancePay program, allowing inmates to call their telephone number without standard billing restrictions. Prepaid accounts can be set up by calling a toll-free number or visiting the GTL website.

Visitation hours at the facility are based on the first letter of the inmate's last name. Visits for individuals with last names starting from A to L are scheduled on Fridays and Sundays, while those with last names starting from M to Z visit on Saturdays and Mondays. Male visitation hours are from 8:30 am to 10:30 am and 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with no visits between 10:30 am and 12:00 pm. Female visitation hours are from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

For commissary and self-bail services, the facility utilizes the TouchPay Online system, which can be accessed through their website.

Recent Bookings & Arrests

How do I find out if someone has been arrested and booked into the Guadalupe Adult Detention Center?

To find out if someone you know has been recently arrested and booked into the Guadalupe Adult Detention Center, call the jail’s booking line at 830-303-6342 .

There may be an automated method of looking them up by their name over the phone, or you may be directed to speak to someone at the jail. Sometimes the jail staff may ask you the offender’s date of birth to ensure privacy of the offender’s status.

Keep in mind that after an arrest, the information on an offender may not be publicly available for several hours.

If you don’t want to check up on an offender by calling the jail, you can also try looking up people recently booked online.

Guadalupe Adult Detention Center Booking Roster

What happens during booking in Guadalupe County?

After being arrested and taken into custody, and after being read their Miranda Rights, an offender will next be transported to the local police or department or the Sheriff’s Department in Guadalupe County for booking.

Booking is very involved and requires multiple steps in the process, however, keep in mind that most attorneys will advise that an offender remain silent and not offer any additional information about the crime they have been arrested for because anything they do say may be recorded and may very well be used against them in court.

What is the booking process like at the Guadalupe Adult Detention Center?

Booking includes having their photo (mugshot) and fingerprints taken, as well as being asked a lot of questions about their personal history and state of mind. If it’s a serious felony, their DNA may also be taken. They will also be checked for warrants in Guadalupe County and other Texas and USA jurisdictions.

If the offender was arrested for a DUI offense, and has refused a breathalyzer test, they may also be forced to have blood drawn by a doctor or nurse.

It is also very likely that the offender will undergo a humiliating full body search while in the nude. This includes bending over, spreading their cheeks in the direction of an officer, and coughing. They will also be walked through a metal detector or x-ray machine, like those used at an airport.

What kind of questions are asked during booking?

The arresting jurisdiction will ask about gang affiliations, tattoos, medical conditions, prescribed medication they are taking, recreational drugs they are on or addicted to, allergies, if they are suicidal, and other relevant information that will help with determining their cell assignment and special needs.

What happens to an offender’s personal property during booking?

During the arrest and booking process an offender will also have all their personal property confiscated and held for either their release from jail, or with the offender’s approval, released to a friend or family member.

Personal property includes the clothing they are wearing, money, wallets, purses, cell phones, jewelry, body rings, earrings, watches, and even glasses if they are deemed a security risk. If they are allowed to keep their shoes or sneakers, the laces are removed.

What happens after booking?

At this point the offender will be allowed to make a free phone call to a person of their choice to notify them of their arrest, and/or arrange a bond or bail for their release.

If the offender is being detained and housed while awaiting arraignment, the Guadalupe Adult Detention Center will provide a jail garment and slip-on shoes, a blanket, sheets, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, and a towel.

Often, before they are dressed in the jail outfit and brought to their housing location, they will be forced to take a shower and undergo a disinfectant treatment for body and hair lice, scabies or other pests that may be residing on their person.

How long does the Guadalupe Adult Detention Center Booking process take?

Booking can take anywhere from an hour to 24 hours or more. It all depends on the number of people that are awaiting processing, the number of staff on duty at the time, and the behavior of the offender.

If the offender is heavily intoxicated and/or violent, the Booking Officer may decide to stick the offender in a holding cell for several hours until they become more manageable.

Inmate Bail and Bonding

The Guadalupe County Sheriff recommends that you use a bail bond agent licensed to do business in Guadalupe County.

  • You can pay a cash bond yourself, or use your home in Guadalupe County, or in some cases the state of Texas, but the benefit of using a bail bond agent is that they take responsibility for making sure the inmate shows up for court in Guadalupe County, and if they don't, then they take the financial responsibility.
  • The typical fee for a bond will be between 10-20% of the bail amount; usually 15%.  So if an offender has a bail of $10,000.00, their bond will be $1500.00.

Call 830-303-6342 to find out the exact bond (plus other fees) amount, or look it up online by looking up the information on the Guadalupe County inmate locator.

Guadalupe County Bail Bond Information

Because Guadalupe County and Texas can change their bail bond procedures, it is always best to call either the Guadalupe Adult Detention Center at 830-303-6342 , or the court in the jurisdiction (i.e. Municipal Court, District Court, etc.) where the offender was charged, and do this right after an arrestee has been booked.

Ask the staff at the Guadalupe Adult Detention Center or the Guadalupe County Court Clerk these specific questions:

  1. Is the defendant eligible for bail or a bond?
  2. How much will the bail or bond be, and what are the additional fees?
  3. Where do I go to pay it?
  4. Are there any days or times of the day or night when I cannot post bail?
  5. What types of payment are allowed? Cash? Money order? Credit card? What types of credit cards? Property or other collateral? Surety bonds?
  6. Do I have to use a bail or bond agent?

If you feel the bail is too high and you wish to get it reduced, contact a lawyer or the defendant's public defender and get them to look into what they can do to get a bail reduction. The sooner you get working on this the quicker you will get your loved one released.

This entire process will go smoother and faster with a criminal attorney or bail agent handling it for you.
