About the Appomattox County Inmates housed in Amherst County Adult Detention Center
Known as the city for love, Appomattox is located within the county named after it, and both have their inmates housed at the Amherst County Adult Detention Center. By using this alternative facility, the area law enforcement are able to make the most of their budget, access high security beds for their inmates, and provide the best results to their community. While housed in this facility inmates will have access to all the same services and amenities that other inmates are, including educational courses, addictions treatments, laundry and food services, phone calls to friend and family, commissary purchases, and regular visits. Mail is sent to a third party for processing and can be addressed to the jail, with the full name and booking ID number for the receiving inmate and will then be scanned and electronically delivered. This system limits any contraband getting into the jail by removing the chance of it being mailed in and allows the inmates access to their mail sooner. They are also permitted to make phone calls each day, and these can be collect calls that are billed to the receiver, or they may be prepaid through connectnetwork.com. For an in person visit it is necessary to book in advance, and ensure the schedule remains unchanged. Visiting hours for this location are Tuesday through Friday from 9am until 11am, and work release inmates will have visits on Saturdays from 9am until 11am to accommodate their work schedule.
