Video Visitation - Information, Schedules, Duration and Cost

In addition to normal at-the-jail visits, Skagit County Jail uses Securus Video Connect for Remote Inmate Video Visitation.

Video Visitation allows 'approved' friends, family members, attorneys and clergy of an inmate to connect with them using their computer, Securus Video Visitation app, or ‘on-site’ kiosk.

Steps:
Register and/or log in.
Select the facility of your inmate.
Review the days, available hours and the cost of remote and on-site visits.
Schedule your visit.

What is the Cost of a Remote Video Visit?
Costs vary and are subject to change, but generally visits range from $5.00 to 15.00 for a 15 to 30 minute online or on-site video visit.

How do you know if your Inmate will be available during the time you schedule?
The Securus system knows the times that Skagit County Jail inmates are available for remote video visits.
It will not allow you to schedule a visit with your inmate if they are not available or the video visitation kiosk(s) in the jail are booked already.
Once you schedule a visit with your inmate they will be notified of the date and time of the visit.

Important Tips:
Your entire visit is being monitored and recorded. Do not say or do anything that you would not want being replayed in court.
You should schedule your visit, in advance, at a time that works best for you.
For best sound quality, use earbuds or headsets.

Skagit County Jail Visitation Application Process

Skagit County Jail requires all visitors to be approved by both the inmate and the jail prior to visiting your inmate, even if the visit is a remote video visit.

Incomplete information on any application is cause for denial.

Honesty, especially regarding past criminal convictions, probation etc., is important. These things will most likely show up on a background check, if one is done - which if lied about - will cause visits to be denied.

At Home Video Visitation

Skagit County Jail uses Securus Video Connect for Remote Inmate Video Visitation from your home computer or other devices no matter where you are.

Who can Visit an Inmate at Skagit County Jail

Anyone over the age of 18, who isn't on felony probation and can produce a valid government-issued photo ID can be approved to visit an inmate in this jail.

Visitation applicants in Skagit County County must sometimes submit to a background check. Those with warrants are denied visitation or if allowed to visit, will be arrested at the jail.

Children under age 18 must be accompanied by the parent or legal guardian.

It is likely that the Skagit County Jail will deny visitation to anyone with a past felony conviction regardless of probation/parole status. Call 360-416-1960 prior to arriving for the specific jail guideline regarding your legal status.

If you are a co-defendant with the inmate in a pending case, your visit will be denied.

If you and the inmate are under a court order to have no contact with each other, your visit will be denied.

The Skagit County Jail reserves the right to deny any person the right to enter the jail (or take part in remote video visits), and for any reason.

Skagit County Jail Visitation Dress Code

The Skagit County Jail staff will turn anyone away who is not dressed appropriately for a visit.

The best way to be sure the visit takes place is to dress as if you are meeting someone's grandmother for the first time.

Remote Video visitation is no different. If you are not dressed discretely, your visit will be terminated. Future visits could also be affected.

  • Wear clothes that are not revealing.
  • Don't wear see-through material.
  • Have all undergarments covered (males and females) and avoid a lot of cleavage.
  • Shorts and skirts should reach mid-thigh.
  • Sleeves should be at least half-way to your elbow.

The following types of clothing are also prohibited:

  • Clothing promoting gang affiliation.
  • Anything displaying drugs, weapons or profanity.
  • Clothing depicting anything obscene.

Visitation Tips and Guidelines

Jail visits are conducted in person behind plexi-glass or remotely, either from home or on-site at Skagit County Jail.

All video visits are both monitored in real time and are recorded. Whatever you talk about, can and will be used against your inmate in court. Never discuss their pending criminal case!

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and guardians must provide proof of their guardianship.

If you are visiting on-site at the jail, leave all personal belongings, except for your state ID, in your vehicle or in a locker (if one is provided).

At the jail, children must be monitored at all times or jail staff will end the visit early.

Skagit County Bail Bond Information

Because Skagit County and Washington can change their bail bond procedures, it is always best to call either the Skagit County Jail at 360-416-1960, or the court in the jurisdiction (i.e. Municipal Court, District Court, etc.) where the offender was charged, and do this right after an arrestee has been booked.

Ask the staff at the Skagit County Jail or the Skagit County Court Clerk these specific questions:

  1. Is the defendant eligible for bail or a bond?
  2. How much will the bail or bond be, and what are the additional fees?
  3. Where do I go to pay it?
  4. Are there any days or times of the day or night when I cannot post bail?
  5. What types of payment are allowed? Cash? Money order? Credit card? What types of credit cards? Property or other collateral? Surety bonds?
  6. Do I have to use a bail or bond agent?

If you feel the bail is too high and you wish to get it reduced, contact a lawyer or the defendant's public defender and get them to look into what they can do to get a bail reduction. The sooner you get working on this the quicker you will get your loved one released.

This entire process will go smoother and faster with a criminal attorney or bail agent handling it for you.
