About the Homer Community Jail
Homer Community Jail in Alaska is a seven bed, medium-security facility located at 4060 Heath Street, Homer, Alaska, 99603, owned and operated by The City of Homer, under state contract providing criminal detention services for the Kenai Peninsula Borough County. It has been operational since 1983 and has a bed capacity of 197. It offers various programs to inmates such as social-emotional learning and character development, prisoner re-entry program, access to medical, dieting, recreational, and educational services. Inmates are also eligible to participate in events such as the County Fair, Club Events, and the World Chicken Festival. They can also receive mail from friends and family while in jail, and are allowed to receive two magazine subscriptions directly from the publisher. Visiting the facility has common rules defined by the Alaska Department of Corrections (DOC), with visiting hours from 2:00pm to 5:00pm seven days per week. All visitors must show valid ID and are subject to search, and visits can be scheduled by calling (907) 235-3150 or (907) 226-3009. Inmates also have access to a detainee store account which can be used to send money in several ways, including cash requests, checks, and charge card master card, as well as access to phone calls.
