About the Apache County Jail

The Apache County Jail is located at 370 South Washington Street, St. Johns, Arizona 85936. It has a capacity of 150 beds and employs 153 staff members. The contact number for the jail is 928-337-4321.

Apache County houses their pre-trial offenders, as well as sentenced inmates, in the Apache County Jail. This is where they will wait for their trial and their bond, where they will receive their medical care, meals, clean laundry, education, and mental health care for the duration of their incarceration. Completed in 1991, the new building has up to date security, advanced technology, and accessible cells for those who need them. The housing areas are separated into minimum, medium, and maximum security, keeping male and female inmates in separate units, and providing for all basic needs within the housing unit. 

To determine if an inmate qualifies for bail, if they are in the facility at all, or any other questions the contact number for the jail is 928-337-4321 and the inmate online look up is updated regularly. 

Each housing area was designed with phones that make outgoing calls only, showers and other hygiene requirements, cells for private space while sleeping, and tables for meals and recreation or social activities. Along with these, Apache County Jail has a recreation yard for outdoor exercise and activities, indoor recreational spaces, a library, visiting area, medical area, commissary, full laundry services, and a maintenance shop. 

Inmates are allowed to send and receive mail, have a personal commissary account when booked, and have restricted visitor access. The jail offers on-site video visitation, with each inmate allowed two 45-minute visits per week.

Visitors can't be on probation or parole and must wear appropriate attire. Special visits must be requested in writing and approved by the Jail Commander.

Apache County Jail also offers an online inmate roster, a mobile app, and reintegration programming for male offenders.

It houses state inmates from the Federal Bureau of Prisons awaiting transfer to the Arizona Department of Corrections, and contracts with three city Police Departments. Additionally, inmates charged with serious crimes such as homicides are sent there to be held awaiting trial or sentencing. Inmates also come from other counties and from Tribal lands.

Visits are also available, with onsite visits being Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9am until 11am. All visits must be scheduled in advance by at least one day through the visitation kiosk in the lobby or online, where remote visits will be scheduled and held as well.

What is the Cost of a Remote Video Visit?
Costs vary and are subject to change, but generally visits range from $5.00 to $15.00 for a 15 to 30 minute online or on-site video visit.

How do you know if your Inmate will be available during the time you schedule?
The Securus system knows the times that Apache County Jail inmates are available for remote video visits.
It will not allow you to schedule a visit with your inmate if they are not available or the video visitation kiosk(s) in the jail are booked already.
Once you schedule a visit with your inmate they will be notified of the date and time of the visit.

The Apache County Jail allows inmates to receive pre-metered postcards like the type purchased from the post office. They may also allow certain photo postcards as long as they have not been tampered with or contain images that may be considered to be obscene or violent in nature.
