About the Boone County Jail & Detention Center

Boone County moved its jail in 2009 from a 36-bed building in downtown Harrison to a 103-bed facility at 5800 Law Drive, Harrison, AR 72601, on the south edge of Bellefonte. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office, under Sheriff Roy Martin, runs the Boone County Jail and Detention Center, and Nathan Jenkins is the jail administrator. Call the jail at (870) 429-1406, or the sheriff’s 24-hour non-emergency line at (870) 741-8404. Men and women arrested in Harrison, Alpena, Bellefonte, Lead Hill, Omaha and the rest of the county are brought here. Most are waiting on charges or court dates. Some are serving county sentences or waiting for transfer to the state prison system.

The current roster is online at myr2m.com/booneroster. You can search it by name or arrest date, and it lists charges and the arresting agency. Within about 48 hours of arrest, Arkansas Rule of Criminal Procedure 8.1 requires that the person see a judge, without unnecessary delay. Bail is a right before conviction in every case except capital charges where the proof is evident or the presumption great (Arkansas Constitution, Art. 2, §8). Under Rules 9.1 and 9.2, the judge weighs release on recognizance or with conditions before setting a money bond. Boone County takes cash, money orders and credit cards for bonds, and licensed bail bondsmen post bonds here as well. Call (870) 429-1406 for the amount. A bondsman’s premium is set by Arkansas Code §17-19-301 at 10% of the bond, rounded up to the nearest $5. It is due in full before release, along with small nonrefundable state fees.

In-person visiting is Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Only immediate family may visit: parents, siblings, spouses, children and grandparents. Every visitor needs a picture ID, and visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours ahead, so call the jail to book a time. City Tele Coin, the jail’s phone and tablet company, can answer questions about video visits and accounts at (318) 746-1114.

Since September 8, 2025, personal mail has been scanned and delivered to inmates electronically. Send letters to the scanning center, not the jail:

Each cell has its own phone, and people can call collect or use purchased calling cards. You can add commissary money at the lobby kiosk, which is open 24 hours, online at commissarydeposit.com, or by mailing a money order payable to the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.

To check on a warrant, call the Boone County Circuit Court at (870) 741-5560 for felonies or the Boone County District Court at (870) 741-2788 for misdemeanors. Search ARCourts at caseinfo.arcourts.gov/opad has case records and hearing dates. A short call with a lawyer before turning yourself in can save a long night.

No public bus serves the jail; most visitors drive in on U.S. 65. The nearest fuel is White Oak Station at 4281 U.S. 65, which is open 24 hours, and Harps Gas Station at 5015 U.S. 62. Subway is at 4281 State Hwy 62-65 South. If you’re headed back through town, Wendy’s is at 917 U.S. 62-65 North.

Inmate Money Accounts

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Boone County Jail & Detention Center?

There are two options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Choice 1 - Deposit Inmate Money Online

Boone County Jail & Detention Center uses CommissaryDeposit.com to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Choice 2 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail

Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union.

Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.

**Call 870-429-1406 first to ask Boone County Jail & Detention Center if this option is still available.
