Back to questions ↑What happens after a federal arrest in Berryville?
These cases start with officers from the ATF, IRS agents, the Secret Service, or the Marshals Service, often alongside city police. Cases out of this county belong to the Western District of Arkansas, Harrison Division. No Harrison office appears on the court's website, even though the law names Harrison as the division's meeting place. Call the clerk on 833-853-0345 to learn where hearings happen. The listed northwest courthouse is in Fayetteville, 35 East Mountain Street, Room 510, Fayetteville, AR 72701. The judge also gets a report from a pretrial officer. Within a day or so, they go before a magistrate judge for a first hearing. A dollar figure isn't the starting point on a federal case. A judge looks at risk to others and to the case during a detention hearing per federal bail law.
Check the sheriff's jail list right away; there the hold may show. Meanwhile, the Marshals Service may place them in a county jail. The U.S. Marshals branch covering this area is at 30 South 6th Street, Room 243, Fort Smith, AR 72901. Call 479-289-7470 and 479-424-5000 (call either line) to find a federal prisoner. A conviction with prison time shifts them out of the local jail into the BOP. Use the BOP locator to see the prison once they arrive.
Back to questions ↑ICE detainer: how it works for families
- ICE finds out about an arrest through booking prints deputies share. ICE may then place a detainer.
- Forty-eight hours is the most: the detainer only asks jail staff to delay the release while a pickup is set up. A holiday does not freeze the clock.
- Posting bond will not remove this hold. The hold simply begins then.
- During those hours, ICE often sends officers to collect them. No pickup by the deadline? Then the hold ends and the sheriff must let them leave.
- The detainee locator looks up people by the A-number and birth country. Missing the A-number? Type in birth date, native country, and the exact name instead.
- Arkansas reports to ICE's New Orleans enforcement office: 181 James Drive W, St. Rose, LA 70087, 504-318-2360.
- ICE alone chooses the next facility.
Bound for state prison from Berryville? How the transfer works
Prison sentences are handled by the ADC. At first, the person stays in the Berryville jail until the ADC schedules the move. Reception comes first: paperwork, photos and tests. Classification staff classify them by how much security they need, gang links and physical and mental health. Their next move is a prison that suits those results.
You can find them by ADC number with the state inmate lookup. For prison details, open Arkansas prison pages.
Back to questions ↑Can I find Carroll County jail mugshots online?
Yes. Look the person up in the Carroll County roster; Carroll mugshots are there. If the photo is missing, ask the Carroll jail.
Journalists can ask for a mugshot that isn't public by phoning the sheriff's office at 870-423-2901. Federal booking photos stay private. The federal system keeps mugshots back; the U.S. Marshals release one only for an escapee or fugitive, when release would help catch them or alert neighbors, or for urgent community safety. Need an ICE mugshot? Send a FOIA request to ICE. ICE decides whether to release it.
