Bradford County Jail Inmate Search
Florida law entitles most people arrested in Bradford County to reasonable pretrial release, unless they are charged with a capital or life felony and the proof is evident, or a judge finds no conditions would protect the public. The Bradford County Jail is licensed to house 185 inmates, but it is often forced to hold many more, especially on weekends. Most city and county jails in Florida turn over at least 35-40% of their inmates per month, another 25-30% every 90 days, and another 15-20% every six months, with approximately 8-9% incarcerated six to twelve months. Inmates held longer than twelve months are usually facing serious charges such as rape or murder. Because those cases take longer to prepare for trial, offenders arrested in this county remain in one of the Bradford County facilities much longer.

The Bradford County Jail at 945-A N Temple Avenue in Starke opened in 1995 and is run by the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s main office is next door at 945-B. The jail’s phone is (904) 966-6250, and the office is staffed Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Men and women are housed in separate sections at minimum, medium and maximum custody levels. A 2023 federal PREA audit reports 240 beds in 11 housing units. That audit also reports an average daily population of about 118 adults, a mix of county inmates, U.S. Marshals holds and courtesy holds for other counties. People serving county sentences of a year or less stay here, and longer state sentences go to the Florida Department of Corrections. The Sheriff’s jail page has details.
First appearance is held every day at about 10:00 a.m., well within the 24 hours Florida Rule 3.130 allows. Bradford County is part of the Eighth Judicial Circuit. The Sheriff notes that bond information is often not available until after first appearance, so call the jail for the amount. Most people have a right to pretrial release on reasonable conditions under Article I, Section 14 of the Florida Constitution. The exceptions are capital and life felonies where the proof is evident, and cases where no conditions can protect the community. Before a judge rules, the 2026 uniform statewide bond schedule sets minimum amounts, and the circuit’s chief judge can set higher ones. Some serious charges must go before a judge, and a notice to appear is common for minor misdemeanors. Bail agents charge a 10% premium on state bonds (DFS) and can’t deviate from the approved rate.
Visits are mainly by video, on site or remotely on your own device, through NCIC Correctional Services. You can reach NCIC at ncic.com, 1-800-942-2189, or through the NCIC Mobile Video Visitation app. On-site, only one adult visitor per inmate is allowed in the visitation area. Children must stay with a parent or guardian, and footwear is required. Dresses, skirts and shorts must reach at least mid-thigh, and phones, food and drinks stay out. Visits are monitored. Mail goes to the inmate’s full name at P.O. Box 310, Starke, FL 32091. Except for legal mail, it must be a pre-stamped postcard from 3½″ × 4¼″ to 4¼″ × 6″. Cards with attached pictures, stickers, marker or stains are refused, and so are books, magazines and packages (see the mail policy). Electronic messages go through Inmate Inbox. Commissary deposits can be made online through Stewart at commissarydeposit.com or at the lobby kiosk (cash, Visa, MasterCard) during business hours. With the inmate’s authorization, someone can pick up their property from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
